Job summary

Heart Hospital of Austin is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic to perform preventive and corrective maintenance on hospital equipment and building systems, working with the Engineering Manager to ensure safety, reliability and patient comfort.

The role requires 5 years of experience in large facilities (electrician, HVAC, plant operator or plumbing) and a High School Diploma or equivalent; technical training preferred. Strong troubleshooters and documentation skills are essential.

Qualifications

  • 5 years experience in a large commercial industrial or health care facility as an electrician, HVAC and Plant Operator, or plumber with general and structural maintenance
  • Previous hospital maintenance experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Perform repairs to machinery, equipment or facilities
  • Perform preventive maintenance on hospital and plant equipment
  • Execute miscellaneous work orders and respond to trouble calls
  • Accurately document and maintain records for the facility
  • Perform routine electrical, plumbing and HVAC maintenance
  • Assist in ordering parts and supplies needed for maintenance

Job Summary And Qualifications

As the Maintenance Mechanic, you will be responsible for preventive and corrective maintenance of hospital equipment and building components. Working alongside the Engineering Manager, you will diagnose problems, offer solutions, and act to ensure the safety, care, and comfort of staff and patients.

  • You will perform a variety of skilled maintenance, including: repairs to machinery, equipment or facilities
  • You will perform preventive maintenance on hospital and plant equipment
  • You will execute miscellaneous work orders and answers trouble calls
  • You will accurately document and maintain records for the facility
  • You will perform routine electrical, plumbing and HVAC maintenance
  • You will assist in order parts and supplied needed for maintenance

Requirements

Experience

  • 5 years experience in a large commercial industrial or health care facility as an electrician, HVAC and Plant Operator, or plumber with general and structural maintenance, modification, renovation and interior construction
  • Previous experience in general maintenance in a hospital or similar institution – preferred

Education

  • High School Diploma, GED or equivalent
  • Technical, Vocational or other equivalent education – preferred
