The Kansas City Zoo is looking for a Maintenance Mechanic II responsible for general repairs and maintenance of facilities. This role involves tasks like building structures, assisting in various mechanical trades, and ensuring the safety and functionality of the Zoo environment. Candidates should have a high school diploma and substantial experience in maintenance roles.
Under general supervision, the Maintenance Mechanic II is responsible for making a variety of general repairs to existing Zoo & Aquarium infrastructure and systems, as well as other maintenance duties such as painting and building basic structures for staff, guests and animals.

Responsible for general maintenance on Zoo & Aquarium buildings, animal exhibits and guest areas, including basic repairs, painting and building basic structures.
70%
Assists other maintenance staff with completion of generated work orders related to a variety of mechanical trades, including plumbing, electrical, carpentry, welding, HVAC, etc.
20%
Assists maintenance manager in implementing and executing preventive maintenance programs.
5%
Assists with snow removal during winter months.
5%
