Pelican is hiring a Maintenance Mechanic II for the 2nd shift in South Deerfield, MA. The role focuses on maintaining equipment and facilities, combining welding, machining, electrical and carpentry tasks to keep production in operation.

The candidate should have 3–5 years of related experience, be able to work evenings/weekends as needed, and possess the ability to interact with staff at all levels while maintaining a safe, organized work area.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• 3–5 years of related experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Intermediate experience with mig welding and machining.
• Ability to complete assignments within the Manager's timeframe.
• Ability to interact effectively with employees at all levels and outside contractors.

Responsibilities

• Installs, erects or disassembles plant equipment and machines as directed.
• Performs electrical, piping, carpentry, painting, sheet metal work and other maintenance tasks to keep production running.
• Performs welding and routine machine operations as necessary.
• Conducts preventative maintenance on molding and plant equipment to schedule, inspects, oils, greases, and adjusts.
• Installs water and air lines and performs minor building repairs.

This is a 2nd Shift role, work schedule is: Monday-Friday, 2:00pm-10:30pm Eastern time.

SUMMARY

Performs a wide variety of maintenance duties to repair and maintain equipment and facilities using multiple skills generally applicable to welding material, maintenance/building trades.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Installs, erects or disassembles plant equipment and machines as directed.
• Performs electrical, piping, carpentry, painting, sheet metal work and other maintenance trades tasksto keep production in operation.
• Performs welding and routine machine operations as necessary.
• Conducts preventative maintenance on molding and plant equipment to schedule, inspects, oils,greases, adjusts and refers problems to supervisor.
• Installs water and air lines. Performs minor building repairs or installations.
• Diagnoses and corrects mechanical problems on a variety of manufacturing machines.
• Assists in training Maintenance C associates.
• Maintains established quality and quantity standards. Follows prescribed safety precautions,
  established company and department policies, procedures, rules and regulations. Detects and reportsimproper operations, faulty equipment, defective materials and questionable conditions to propersupervision. Maintains work area(s) and equipment in a clean, orderly and safe condition.
• Maintains daily production and other records as required.
• Performs other related duties as required or directed.

QUALIFICATION GUIDELINES

• Education: High School Diploma or equivalent specific experience
• Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a related field, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
• Intermediate experience with mig welding and machining.
• Must have the ability to complete assignments within time frame specified by the Manager.
• Must be able to interact effectively and cooperatively with employees at all levels as well as outside contractors.
• Must be able to operate in a fast-paced organization and handle multiple projects simultaneously.
• Must be flexible with work schedules and be available to work overtime on evenings and weekends,with or without advanced notice.
• Must have the ability to complete assignments within the timeframe specified by the Manager.
• Must be able to be on-call as necessary.
• Must have own tools
