Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor/Manager, the Maintenance Mechanic II performs all duties and responsibilities of the Maintenance Mechanic I position. In addition, this role independently troubleshoots, repairs, and maintains mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and basic electrical systems throughout the facility. The Maintenance Mechanic II serves as a resource to junior maintenance personnel, supports equipment reliability initiatives, participates in continuous improvement efforts, and helps ensure safe, efficient, and compliant plant operations.

Your Contribution to Excellence

• Independently troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and basic electrical equipment failures with minimal supervision.
• Perform advanced preventive and predictive maintenance activities, including lubrication, thermal imaging, laser shaft alignment, belt tension verification, chain wear monitoring, oil sampling, and equipment condition monitoring.
• Dismantle, inspect, repair, rebuild, and reassemble machinery and equipment components to restore and improve equipment performance and reliability.
• Perform intermediate fabrication, welding, and part modification activities by interpreting blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings and accurately measuring, marking, cutting, and assembling materials.
• Install, repair, and maintain pumps, valves, bearings, conveyors, gearboxes, drive systems, fluid transfer equipment, and other production support systems.
• Independently set up equipment for operation and lead production changeovers while ensuring equipment meets established operating specifications.
• Participate in planned shutdowns, equipment overhauls, rebuilds, and capital improvement projects.
• Adjust, align, and calibrate equipment to optimize productivity, efficiency, and operational performance.
• Support root cause failure analysis efforts utilizing continuous improvement tools such as 5 Whys, Fishbone Diagrams, and corrective action methodologies.
• Identify opportunities to improve equipment reliability, reduce downtime, enhance safety, and increase operational efficiency, and assist in implementing approved solutions.
• Assist in training, coaching, and providing technical guidance to Maintenance Mechanic I personnel and other developing maintenance team members.
• Utilize the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) to manage work orders, document maintenance activities, maintain accurate records, and support inventory and spare parts management.
• Communicate effectively with operators, production personnel, contractors, and supervisors regarding equipment status, repairs, and operational concerns.
• Monitor equipment performance and operating conditions and promptly elevate complex issues that could impact safety, quality, reliability, or production.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment while meeting established productivity and efficiency expectations.
• Follow all safety policies and procedures, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), hazard identification, safe work practices, and active participation in safety initiatives.
• Adhere to all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and food safety requirements; promptly report any food safety, environmental, social compliance, or quality concerns; demonstrate flexibility to meet operational needs, including overtime and shift changes; and perform other duties as assigned.
  

What you Bring to the Table:

• High school diploma, GED, or technical school diploma required; or two (2) to three (3) years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and repair mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and basic electrical systems with minimal supervision.
• Ability to read, interpret, and apply blueprints, mechanical drawings, schematics, equipment manuals, and technical documentation.
• Working knowledge of industrial maintenance practices, preventive maintenance principles, fabrication techniques, and welding applications.
• Ability to utilize computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) to manage work orders and maintain accurate maintenance records.
• Ability to communicate effectively with operators, maintenance personnel, supervisors, and cross-functional teams.
• Ability to work independently while maintaining a strong commitment to safety, quality, food safety, and GMP standards.
• Preferred: Three (3) to five (5) years of maintenance mechanic experience in a high-speed manufacturing environment.
• Preferred: Demonstrated proficiency in industrial safety procedures, welding, predictive maintenance technologies, and equipment reliability practices.
  

The Setting for Your Success

This position requires consistent physical activity in a manufacturing and agricultural environment. Employees are required to stand and walk for extended periods (up to 6–8+ hours per day), with frequent movement throughout the facility, including production, cannery, and outdoor farm areas.

The role involves frequent use of the hands and arms for tool operation, fine manipulation, and pushing or pulling equipment components, with reaching required both above and below shoulder level.

Employees must perform frequent bending, squatting, kneeling, and twisting to inspect, repair, and maintain equipment. The position also requires lifting and carrying materials of varying weights from floor to overhead level; items exceeding 51 lbs. require a team lift.
