Job summary

Musco Family Olive Company in California is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic II to support plant operations. You will troubleshoot, repair, and maintain mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and basic electrical systems, while leading junior technicians and contributing to reliability initiatives.

Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor/Manager, the role emphasizes preventive maintenance, safety, GMP compliance, and collaboration with production teams to ensure optimal equipment performance.

Qualifications

• High school diploma, GED, or technical school diploma required; or two to three years in manufacturing.
• Ability to troubleshoot and repair mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and basic electrical systems with minimal supervision.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, manuals, and technical drawings.
• Knowledge of industrial maintenance practices, preventive maintenance, and fabrication.
• Experience using CMMS to manage work orders and records.
• Strong communication with operators, supervisors, and cross-functional teams.
• Ability to work independently with a strong safety, quality, and GMP focus.

Responsibilities

• Independently troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and basic electrical equipment with minimal supervision.
• Perform advanced preventive and predictive maintenance, including lubrication, thermal imaging, alignment, tension verification, wear monitoring, and condition monitoring.
• Dismantle, inspect, repair, rebuild, and reassemble machinery components to restore performance.
• Fabricate and modify parts using blueprints and drawings; measure, cut, and assemble accurately.
• Install, repair, and maintain pumps, valves, bearings, conveyors, gearboxes, and drive systems.
• Set up equipment for operation and lead production changeovers.
• Participate in planned shutdowns, overhauls, and capital projects.
• Adjust, align, and calibrate equipment to optimize productivity.
• Support root cause analysis using 5 Whys, Fishbone diagrams, and corrective actions.
• Identify opportunities to improve reliability, safety, and efficiency; assist in implementing solutions.
• Assist in training Maintenance Mechanic I personnel.
• Use CMMS to manage work orders, documentation, and inventory.
• Communicate status and concerns with operators, contractors, and supervisors.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.
• Follow LOTO, safety, GMP, and food safety policies; support overtime and shifts as needed.
