Job Description

The Maintenance Mechanic II performs preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, diagnosis, and repair of mechanical systems and equipment in assigned facilities. The role may involve more complex tasks, including cross-departmental interactions, requiring specialized knowledge in locksmith, HVAC, motors, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems. Responsibilities include repairing heating, lighting, cooling, plumbing, ventilation systems, installing and maintaining motors, and handling specialized equipment.

This position is based at St. Thomas Midtown Hospital - Nashville, TN.

Responsibilities

• Install, maintain, and repair equipment such as steam valves, traps, coils, radiators, water softeners, heaters, pumps, motors, and related systems.
• Service and repair appliances and motor vehicles using appropriate tools.
• Maintain central steam and water treatment systems, diagnosing malfunctions with gauges and test instruments.
• Fabricate and test parts like pumps, valves, and laboratory equipment using metal fabricating tools and welding torches.
• Operate electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and heavy equipment safely.
• Install new or replacement equipment across various maintenance trades.
• Troubleshoot and repair malfunctions in boilers, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, HVAC, and other systems.
• Maintain locks, doors, and electronic interfaces, ensuring compliance with safety regulations.

Special Projects

• Participate in meetings, training, and seminars.
• Assist in complex maintenance or repair projects.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Must have one or more of the following:

• Graduate of trade school with 2 years of related experience.
• 4 years of related experience.
• Or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
