Job summary

Central Square Central School District is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic I for a full-time, 12-month role. This position performs skilled building repair and maintenance across plumbing, electrical, heating systems, and carpentry, with supervision of a small crew as needed.

The role requires hands-on experience in trades, the ability to plan and carry out work, and responsibility for time and material records. Working days are Monday through Friday, with day shifts, in a on-site setting.

Qualifications

• One year of journeyman experience in a skilled trade.
• Three years in general building construction or maintenance in standard trades.
• Equivalent combination of training and experience.

Responsibilities

• Supervises or performs repairs to plumbing, steam lines, electrical wiring and equipment.
• Installs shelving, storage cabinets and hardware.
• Performs semi-skilled work in masonry, carpentry, plumbing, electrical, or painting.
• Helps install and repair wiring systems and electric fixtures.
• Does skilled painting work.
• Oversees and participates in building cleaning operations.
• Oversees the operation of central heating and air conditioning system.
• Inspects property to ascertain repair needs.
• Estimates material required for repairs.
• Keeps daily time and material records.
• Operates trucks, automobiles, air compressors, and other motorized equipment.
• Supervises and participates in general buildings and grounds maintenance programs.
