The State of Michigan's MDOC is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic at the G. Robert Cotton Correctional Facility to supervise prisoner workers and perform mechanical repairs on food preparation, heating, and ventilation systems. This hands-on role requires diagnosing and troubleshooting equipment, reading blueprints, ordering materials, and ensuring compliance with state and local codes.

Five years of related experience and a high school diploma are required. Occasional travel may be required.

Competenze

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Five years of experience assisting skilled trades workers in mechanical or electrical trades, including one year equivalent to a Maintenance Mechanic E9.
• Completion of a recognized vocational training program in mechanical or electrical trades may substitute for two years of experience.
• Some positions may require certification or registration as a pesticide applicator.
• Some positions may require a commercial driver's license to operate a state vehicle.

Mansioni

• Supervise prisoner workers in the maintenance of mechanical repairs at the facility.
• Diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain food preparation, heating, and ventilation equipment using blueprints and service manuals.
• Order materials and ensure all work complies with state and local codes.
• Complete other assigned work orders, preventive maintenance, and grounds maintenance.
• This is a hands-on role requiring the ability to perform duties as assigned.
