Job summary

Pender Community Hospital District is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic/Groundskeeper (PRN) to repair and maintain facilities, grounds, and equipment across hospital entities. Responsibilities include routine maintenance, preventative tasks, and assisting with fire alarm/sprinkler testing and emergency power systems.

The role also covers grounds maintenance such as planting, watering, fertilizing, snow removal, and debris management to ensure safe and clean exterior areas.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Ability to safely operate industrial and all grounds keeping equipment.
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret manufacturer's specifications for the proper operation and preventive maintenance of equipment.
• Well-rounded knowledge of carpentry, plumbing, electrical, floor care, computer use, etc.

Responsibilities

• Maintains equipment in peak working condition to reduce utility, repair, and maintenance costs.
• Assist in record keeping and preventative maintenance of all facilities systems.
• Reports malfunctions or loss to supervisor immediately.
• Completes documentation and paperwork to demonstrate effectiveness and supports Quality Assurance Reports.
• Assists in record keeping and testing of fire alarm and sprinkler systems, emergency power, and other testing.
• Maintains grounds: plants seedlings, fertilizes, waters, and performs related care.
• Assists with snow removal and de-icing operations on walkways, driveways, and helipad.

Maintenance Mechanic/Groundskeeper (PRN)

Repairs and maintains, through corrective and preventativemaintenance, facility buildings, property/grounds and equipment forall Pender Community Hospital entities and affiliations.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Maintains the equipment in peak working condition to save onutility, repairs and maintenance costs.
• Assist in record keeping and preventative maintenance of allfacilities systems.
• Reports malfunctions or loss to supervisor immediately.
• Completes documentation and paperwork as required todemonstrate effectiveness and assists with Quality Assurance Reports.
• Assists in record keeping and performance of fire alarm andsprinkler systems, emergency power, and other testing.
• Plants seedlings, spreads fertilizers, pesticides, and relatedchemicals on lawns and flower beds.
• Waters grass and flowers according to dryness by setting upsprinkler systems.
• Rakes, collects and dispose of leaves when necessary.
• Assists in monitoring all exterior grounds daily to pick updebris on sidewalks and grounds including picking up and disposeof all debris preventing slips or falls, or calls supervisorand/or other maintenance staff, if unable to deal with alone.
• Picks up trash containers/boxes, etc and transports toterminal areas. Along with transporting red box/biohazard materialto shed.
• Spreads sand and/or salt on walkways and driveways duringwinter months which includes planning and executing snow removaland deicing from walkways/driveways/helipad in a timely manner.
• Maintains, cleans, waxes and buffs the floors as needed.
• Conducts painting in facilities as needed.
• Removes used supplies, materials and equipment from work site.
• Maintains clean mechanical rooms, roofs, storage areas andshops along with upkeep on tools and equipment in maintaining goodcondition and proper working order.
• Schedules routine maintenance for oil change and/or othervehicle repairs as needed including maintaining records for milesdriven and designate to specific departments.
• Prioritizes all tasks, such as work orders, verbal and writtenrequests, etc. using time efficiently.
• Communicates with manager on items that need attention inregards to repairs, replacement, etc…

Experience and Skills

Education, Experience:

• High School diploma or equivalent preferred
• Ability to safely operate industrial and all grounds keeping equipment
• Ability to read, analyze, and correctly interpretmanufacturer's specifications for the proper operation andpreventive maintenance of equipment
• Must possess well-rounded knowledge of all areas: carpentry,plumbing, electrical, floor care, computer use, etc

Certificates, Licensure, Registrations:

• Valid Driver’s License

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS

• Ability to generate, read, interpret, and take action as itrelates to basic financial statements, national and stateregulations, safety rulings, operational and maintenance andorganizational policies / procedures

• Ability to work cooperatively and communicate effectively tomaintain good working relationships with staff and health care providers
• Ability to work with skill in identifying problems
