Job summary

Spokane Housing Authority is hiring a Maintenance Mechanic to perform preventive, routine, and scheduled maintenance across SHA properties. Responsibilities include electrical, plumbing, carpentry, painting, grounds care, and vacant unit prep under supervision of the Facilities and Project Manager.

Required are basic trades knowledge, ability to work independently, and commitment to safety. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, LTD and life insurance, and generous PTO.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of basic electrical, plumbing, and carpentry principles for routine maintenance and repair.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot electrical, plumbing, and appliance systems and document work.
• Perform repairs, replacements, and preventive maintenance as required.
• Electrical tasks include testing switches and outlets and GFCI checks.
• Plumbing tasks include repairing faucets, valves, and leaks.
• Appliance systems include repairing ranges, refrigerators, dishwashers, and AC units.
• Perform carpentry tasks such as door/window repair and drywall installation.
• Paint walls and surfaces, prep and apply finishes.
• Maintain grounds and inspect common areas for safety and cleanliness.
• Vacant unit prep and preventive maintenance on equipment.
• Assist in on-call and weekend emergency maintenance as needed.
• Coordinate with supervisor and vendors; assist with MSDS and safety policy updates.
• Follow SHA safety policies and procedures; ensure compliance with state codes.
