Job summary

Memorial Hermann Health System is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic to support maintenance of hospital buildings, equipment, and grounds at our Cypress location. The role includes routine servicing, repairs, and preventative maintenance across electrical, mechanical, HVAC, and plumbing systems.

Ideal candidates will have at least 1 year of related experience or a technical/trade school certificate, with a focus on safety and efficiency in a hospital environment.

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or GED is required.
• 1 year experience or certificate of completion from a technical/trade school or military experience in mechanical, plumbing, HVAC, refrigeration, electrical, electronics, or construction.

Responsibilities

• Performs routine maintenance and repairs on hospital buildings, equipment, and grounds as directed.
• Conducts preventative maintenance on electrical, mechanical, plumbing and HVAC systems.
• Assists in maintaining HV/AC controls and related equipment to maximize efficiency.
• Adheres to Memorial Hermann policies and budgetary specs; manages time and supplies.
• Provides mentorship and supports department goals; acts as a resource to less experienced staff.
• Delivers safe, compassionate, personalized experiences to patients and colleagues.
• Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Experience / Knowledge / Skills:

• 1 year experience or certificate of completion from a technical/trade school/military experience in an associated mechanical, plumbing, HVAC, refrigeration, electrical, electronics, general construction trade skill.

Principal Accountabilities

• Performs a variety of routine standard servicing/repair operations to maintain hospital buildings, equipment, furnishing, fixtures and ground in proper condition as directed.
• Performs urgent, corrective, routine and requisitioned repairs of electrical, mechanical, and plumbing systems as required; performs preventative maintenance on equipment and physical structures as required, maintaining related records.
• Assists in maintaining and repairing HV/AC controls and associated equipment to maximize efficiency levels in all environmentally controlled areas.
• Ensures safe care to patients, staff and visitors, adheres to all Memorial Hermann policies, procedures, and standards within budgetary specifications including time management, supply management, productivity of service.
• Promotes individual professional growth and development by meeting requirements for mandatory/continuing education, skills competency, supports department-based goals which contribute to the success of the organization; serves as preceptor, mentor, and resource to less experienced staff.
