Pay Scale:

Hiring Hourly Rate Min $35.08 Max. $38.03 – Plus 2nd Shift Differential: 5%

Summary:

Repairs and maintains the electrical, controls systems and components in the manufacturing areas and facilities by being highly skilled in electrical work and have a general working knowledge of mechanical equipment

  • Works directly with the Maintenance Supervisor, Maintenance Planner / Scheduler and other Mechanics to troubleshoot and repair equipment and infrastructure.
  • Troubleshoots and repairs Production department electrical equipment.
  • Adjusts functional parts of machinery and control equipment to make them work more efficient.
  • Dismantles machinery to gain access to and remove/repair defective parts.
  • Utilizes various software packages to program a variety of PLC's (Programmable Logic Controllers) and HMI's (Human-Machine Interfaces) to automate production and plant support equipment and to make the equipment more user-friendly
  • Plans, schedules, and self prioritizes daily work activities per plant/utility needs
  • Follow OSHA and Griffith Foods safety rules and requirements all time with special attention to lock out- tag out procedure.
  • Efficiently tracks daily work and time spent on each job and correctly summarizes the time spent on each work category at day's end utilizing the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
  • Works with Parts Inventory Clerk to initiate purchase orders for parts and equipment, and for replenishing inventory when needed.
  • Evaluates and recommends improvements in methods, procedures and processes.
  • Performs PM's as assigned
  • Performs all work utilizing Good Manufacturing Practices.
  • Assist in training Maintenance personnel on plant equipment.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); ten years maintenance experience required
  • Technical certification or equivalent experience in Industrial Electric and Maintenance
  • Associates Degree preferred
  • Strong familiarity with Allen Bradley PLC’s. VFD Drives and Controls. Willingness to expand skill set by attended seminars/training classes electricity and PLC's
  • Food or chemical manufacturing experience required
  • The ideal candidate will have knowledge and/or experience in the following fields:

Safety, Industrial and Personal, Electrical Systems, PLC programming, along with a working knowledge of mechanics, pneumatics, hydraulics, and pipe fitting/plumbing

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed oral or written instructions; Ability to analyze and solve problems.
  • Computer Skills:

Familiarity with CMMS to enter PM and Work Order data.

Must be Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel and familiarity with RedZone

  • Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
  • Forklift Operator and Areal lift Certification to be obtain one within one year of being hired.
  • Other Skills & Abilities:
    • Must be able to complete a course or courses in Maintenance Mechanic Training annually or as needed.
    • Must be willing to attend Maintenance related trainings and classes to expand skillset.

Physical Demands

  • While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 80 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and distance vision.
  • Employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to wet or humid conditions. The noise level is moderate. Hearing protection is required in designated areas.
