Job summary

Daimler Truck North America is seeking skilled maintenance professionals to keep production machinery and building systems running smoothly at our High Point, NC facility. You will diagnose, repair, and maintain electrical and mechanical equipment, using a range of hand and power tools, measuring instruments, and testing devices.

Expect to perform routine maintenance, interpret schematics, and replace components while ensuring safety and efficiency.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of machines and tools, including their design, repair and maintenance.
  • Understanding of electronics hardware and basic software; proficiency with testing devices.
  • Ability to interpret physical principles and apply to mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Routine maintenance on equipment and diagnosing maintenance needs.
  • Ability to identify causes of operating errors and respond appropriately.
  • Attention to gauges and indicators to ensure proper machine operation.
  • Ability to install equipment, wiring, and systems per specifications.
  • Capability to select appropriate tools to complete a job.

Responsibilities

  • Perform emergency/unscheduled repairs and scheduled maintenance on production equipment.
  • Analyze test results and operator input to diagnose problems.
  • Clean, lubricate, adjust, and balance parts and machinery.
  • Disassemble and reassemble equipment for repairs.
  • Replace defective parts using hand/power tools and test repairs.
  • Execute routine preventive maintenance to keep machines running smoothly.
  • Inspect drives, belts, fluids, and filters; follow checklists.
  • Use voltmeters and testing devices to verify operation.
  • Observe machine operation to diagnose malfunctions and verify fixes.
  • Study blueprints and manuals for installation and operation guidance.
  • Assemble and install wiring and plumbing as required.

Perform work involving the skills of two or more maintenance or craft occupations to keep machines, mechanical equipment, or the structure of an establishment in repair. Duties may involve pipe fitting; insulating; welding; machining; carpentry; repairing electrical or mechanical equipment; installing, aligning, and balancing new equipment; and repairing buildings, floors, or stairs

What You Drive at DTNA
  • Provides emergency/unscheduled repairs of production equipment during production and performs scheduled maintenance repairs of production
  • Analyze test results, machine error messages, and information obtained from operators in order to diagnose equipment problems.
  • Clean, lubricate, and adjust parts, equipment, and machinery.
  • Disassemble machinery and equipment to remove parts and make repairs.
  • Repair or replace defective equipment parts using hand tools and power tools, and reassemble equipment.
  • Perform routine preventive maintenance to ensure that machines continue to run smoothly, building systems operate efficiently, and the physical condition of buildings does not deteriorate.
  • Inspect drives, motors, and belts, check fluid levels, replace filters, and perform other maintenance actions, following checklists.
  • Use tools ranging from common hand and power tools, such as hammers, hoists, saws, drills, and wrenches, to precision measuring instruments and electrical and electronic testing devices.
  • Examine parts for defects such as breakage and excessive wear.
  • Observe and test the operation of machinery and equipment in order to diagnose malfunctions, using voltmeters and other testing devices.
  • Operate newly repaired machinery and equipment to verify the adequacy of repairs.
  • Reassemble equipment after completion of inspections, testing, or repairs.
  • Repair and maintain the operating condition of industrial production and processing machinery and equipment.
  • Repair and replace broken or malfunctioning components of machinery and equipment.
  • Study blueprints and manufacturers' manuals to determine correct installation and operation of machinery.
  • Assemble, install and/or repair wiring, electrical and electronic components, pipe systems and plumbing, machinery, and equipment.
  • Inspect used parts to determine changes in dimensional requirements, using rules, calipers, micrometers, and other measuring instruments.
  • Perform all duties to the prescribed standard.
Knowledge You Should Bring
  • Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
  • Knowledge of circuit boards, processors, chips, electronic equipment, and computer hardware and software, including applications and programming.
  • Knowledge and prediction of physical principles, laws, their interrelationships, and applications to understanding fluid, material, and, mechanical, electrical, structures and processes.
  • Performing routine maintenance on equipment and determining when and what kind of maintenance is needed.
  • Repairing machines or systems using the needed tools.
  • Determining causes of operating errors and deciding what to do about it.
  • Watching gauges, dials, or other indicators to make sure a machine is working properly.
  • Installing equipment, machines, wiring, or programs to meet specifications
  • Determining the kind of tools and equipment needed to do a job
  • The ability to imagine how something will look after it is moved around or when its parts are moved or rearranged.
  • The ability to quickly and repeatedly adjust the controls of a machine or a vehicle to exact positions.
  • The ability to bend, stretch, twist, or reach with your body, arms, and/or legs.
  • The ability to make precisely coordinated movements of the fingers of one or both hands to grasp, manipulate, or assemble very small objects.
  • The ability to arrange things or actions in a certain order or pattern according to a specific rule or set of rules (e.g., patterns of numbers, letters, words, pictures, mathematical operations).
  • High School Diploma or equivalent

  • Maintenance experience in an industrial facility.
