A leading packaging solutions provider in Battle Creek, Michigan, is seeking a Maintenance Technician to ensure efficient daily operations and perform essential repairs. Qualifications

• 8,000 hours of documented maintenance experience.
• Ability to work in high noise levels and medium heat environments.
• Understanding rules set by MIOSHA and AIB/Product Safety Program.
• Ability to read blueprints and perform PMs, pipefitting, fabrication, welding (MIG/TIG/Wire/Stick) and oxyacetylene
• Physical ability to lift up to 90 pounds and work on ladders or platforms
• Work in high noise, solvent fumes, and heat; follow safety guidelines

Essential Duties and Tasks

• Preform maintenance needs required for daily operations to keep running efficiently.
• Research and submit request orders for parts, equipment, and tools.
• Be proactive in resolving quality process failures.
• Suggest ideas to support continuous improvement in all areas of the company.
• Daily communication from shift to shift in the Engineering/Maintenance Department and with Manufacturing.
• Assist in the training of safe work practices for new employees.
• Abide by rules, regulations and guidelines set by ProAmpac, the State of Michigan (MIOSHA), and follow the AIB/Product Safety Program guidelines.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment suitable for the food packaging industry.

Skills and Abilities

• Machine Repair or Millwright Journeyman’s card or documented experience (8,000 hours).
• Thorough knowledge of machine tool operation, i.e., mill, lathe, drill press, grinder, miscellaneous hand tools.
• Knowledge of measuring tools such as micrometers (inside and outside), dial calipers, different types of indicators, and measuring devices in both inch and metric.
• Ability to read blueprints and perform tasks such as PM’s, pipefitting, fabricating, all types of welding (MIG, TIG, Wire, Stick) and use of oxygen/acetylene torches.
• Physical ability to work from a ladder or platform, lift a maximum of 90 pounds, and see clearly at twenty inches or less.
• Ability to work in the following conditions: high noise levels, solvent fumes common in the printing industry, and medium heat.
