Job summary

Welch Packaging is seeking a hands-on Maintenance Technician for the 2nd shift (Mon-Thu 2:30PM-1:00AM) to support production operations. You will perform preventative maintenance, troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues, and repair production machinery to minimize downtime and maximize efficiency.

The ideal candidate has a strong background in industrial maintenance, a proactive approach to problem-solving, and a commitment to workplace safety and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Electrical certification preferred.
• Experience in mechanical/industrial maintenance desired.
• Familiar with hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
• Ability to read electrical and mechanical drawings.
• Proficient with Microsoft environment.

Responsibilities

• Maintain company-owned machinery and equipment in proper working order.
• Perform preventative maintenance and on-call emergency repairs.
• Troubleshoot and repair mechanical and electrical issues to minimize downtime.
• Work with maintenance team to plan safety improvements and housekeeping.
• Assist machine operators to determine root causes of issues.
• Manage tools and maintain clean, organized maintenance shop.

Summary

Supports our production operations by ensuring the optimal performance of manufacturing equipment. In this hands-on role, you will be responsible for performing preventative maintenance, troubleshooting mechanical and electrical issues, and repairing production machinery to minimize downtime and maximize efficiency. The ideal candidate has a strong background in industrial maintenance, a proactive approach to problem-solving, and a commitment to workplace safety and continuous improvement.

Essential Functions

• Responsible for maintaining company-owned machinery and equipment in proper working order
• On-call emergency repairs
• Responsible for taking control of breakdowns
• Execute a plan of continued improvement of machine safety and general housekeeping
• Work with crews to complete all preventative maintenance
• Work with machine operator to troubleshoot and determine root cause of mechanical issues
• Respond quickly to maintenance requests and prioritize effectively
• Work hand in hand with Maintenance Manager to resolve any accident waiting to happen forms
• Work as a team to maintain organization and inventory of maintenance shop and tools
• Duties may vary depending on location

Requirements/Qualificiations

Education:

High School Diploma or Equivalent required

Experience

• Electrical certification preferred**
• Corrugated packaging industry a plus**
• Strong knowledge of mechanical machinery
• Ability to use shop tools and equipment, drill press, shop grinders, welders, oxy-acetylene torch
• A good understanding of hydraulic and pneumatic systems
• A strong trouble shooting and problem solving ability with practical, mechanical & electrical aptitude
• Must be able to read and interpret both electrical and mechanical drawings
• Must be fully computer literate with Microsoft environment
