Job description

Job Title: Maintenance Mechanic

Location: Woodridge, IL

Hire Type: Direct Hire

Shift/Hours: 2nd, 3pm - 11pm (Mon-Fri)

Base Pay: $28-40/hr. (Based on experience)

About the Opportunity:

Our client, a privately held manufacturing company with over 30 years of success, is recruiting for a 2nd Shift Maintenance Mechanic. The ideal candidate will have a strong electrical and mechanical background. Responsibilities include troubleshooting and repairing industrial packaging equipment and facility support equipment, with a focus on maintenance and safety. Work is directed by daily assignments, prints, schematics, wiring diagrams, manuals, and instructions.

Key Responsibilities:

• Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair equipment involving mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic components.
• Disassemble equipment, replace defective parts such as motors, gearboxes, clutches, bearings, and electrical units, then reassemble and calibrate.
• Collaborate effectively with all levels of personnel, individually or in teams.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Improve changeover procedures and assist line workers during changeovers.
• Set up fill lines for production runs, perform changeovers, and repair machinery.
• Dismantle defective equipment and install repaired or new parts.
• Perform troubleshooting and adhere to safety policies, including PPE usage.
• Assist supervisors and interact with management; participate in projects and meetings as needed.

Core Skills and Qualifications:

• Minimum of 3 years maintenance experience in manufacturing.
• Knowledge of pneumatics, hydraulics, mechanical systems, and basic electrical systems.
• Ability to provide personal mechanic's tools.
• Flexibility to work overtime and weekends as required.
• Physical ability to lift up to 55 pounds and work on your feet for 80-90% of the shift.
• Working knowledge of AC 480-120v and DC 180-low voltage controls.
• Strong troubleshooting skills in electrical and mechanical systems.
• Self-motivated with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Capable of lifting/moving 40-60 lbs and managing multiple tasks efficiently.
