Job summary

Ferrara Candy Company in Itasca, IL is seeking a Maintenance Technician for the 2nd shift (10:30pm-7:00am). Overtime and weekend work may be required. Job description

Work Location: Itasca

Shift: 2nd Shift (10:30pm-7:00am). Overtime and weekend work may be required.

Ways you will make a difference

• Disassembles, inspects, reassembles, troubleshoots, repairs and replaces malfunctioning parts or equipment (motors, switches, sensors, input /output boards, controllers servos, gears, sprockets chains, knives, etc. using test equipment and meters such as VOM, megger, amp probe and PC)
• Cleans, lubricates and adjusts guides, flap tuckers, sealing jaws, sensors, servos, and timing for process systems of packaging equipment to improve efficiency, quality, or operation.
• Performs routine preventive maintenance procedures as per schedule.
• Installs change parts (pockets, flap tuckers, film folding shoulders etc.) on our production machinery to allow us to run a different size, shape or product.
• Read blueprints, diagrams, programs /ladder logic and machinery manuals to diagnose problems, identify parts, and learn proper equipment operation.
• Installs new equipment.
• Actively seeks to find problems in assignment area and correct before the problem becomes critical with high supervision.
• Communicates conditions of equipment by completing appropriate maintenance records, transferring knowledge of conditions to incoming mechanics at shift change, and informing his supervisor of significant problems.
• Displays cooperation by working closely with Production personnel.
• Improves work related skills by actively pursuing outside schooling or plant provided programs.
• Ability to work overtime and weekends.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

• Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting abilities, as well as a working knowledge of machinery repair practices, shop practices, use of hand and power tools and electrical testing instruments.
• Knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems, hydraulics, and pneumatics.
• Completed Maintenance Certification.
• Ability to problem solve by adjusting variables in standardized situations.

Compensation

$38.00 per hour plus a .58 cent per hour shift differential.
