Job summary

Wayne Farms LLC in Hazlehurst, MS is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic to perform preventive maintenance, servicing and repairs on large manufacturing equipment including hydraulic, pneumatic and conveyors.

You will diagnose breakdowns, record and order parts, maintain shop areas, and work with managers to schedule maintenance, implement improvements, and ensure a safe, efficient production floor.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Vocational certificate preferred.
• Ability to read schematics, blueprints and diagnose equipment problems.
• Good computer literacy to enter work records.
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance inspections and service on machines, including cleaning, oiling, lubricating and belt changes.
• Identify root cause of breakdowns; repair to decrease downtime.
• Record and report damaged or worn parts; order and install replacements.
• Prepare reports documenting work performed.
• Maintain shop areas, parts, tools, and supplies.
• Coordinate with managers to schedule regular maintenance.
• Collaborate with department heads on product additions and modifications.
• Make modifications and run tests; consult with product manager on results.
• Identify opportunities for improvement and participate in/ lead solutions.
• Wear PPE and follow safety policies; promote zero-accident culture.
• Perform additional relevant duties as assigned.

PRIMARY FUNCTION: The Maintenance Mechanic performs preventative, maintenance, and repairs of large manufacturing equipment (hydraulic, pneumatic, conveyor, etc.).RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS:Perform preventive maintenance inspections and service on machines, including cleaning, oiling, lubricating, changing belts machinery as necessary to ensure machines are in optimal working conditionIdentify root cause of unexpected breakdowns of machines; repair quickly and efficiently to decrease downtime for machineRecord and report damaged, worn, or broken parts, ordering and installing replacement parts for machines as neededPrepare reports documenting work performed.Clean, organize, inventory, stock, and otherwise maintains shop areas, parts, tools, and supplies as neededCoordinate with managers to schedule regular maintenance on machines.Collaborate with department heads regarding new products being added and modifications that will be requiredMake necessary modifications and implements tests runs; confers with product manager regarding test results and makes additional alterations to machinery as requiredIdentify opportunities for improvement, present to appropriate leader, and implement, lead or participate in solution implementationWear personal protective equipment (PPE) in all areas where mandatory helping to promote a zero-accident culturePerform additional relevant duties as assignedSUPERVISOR RESPONSIBILITIES:None.
