Description

Supervises or leads the work of maintenance mechanics in the maintenance and repair of building facilities and servicing of common mechanical and electrical devices. May function in a highly skilled craft capacity with no supervisory responsibility. Pursuant to the State of Texas Executive Order No. GA-48, this position researches, works on, or has access to critical infrastructure and requires the ability to maintain the security or integrity of the University infrastructure. This position requires personnel be routinely reviewed to determine whether or not criminal history or continuous connections for the government or political apparatus of a foreign adversary might prevent the employee from being able to maintain the security or integrity of the infrastructure.

Responsibilities

1. Schedules and inspects work of maintenance mechanics.
2. Establishes a preventative maintenance schedule for equipment and facilities.
3. Orders supplies and materials and maintains adequate inventory levels.
4. May interview and hire other maintenance personnel.
5. Performs the duties of a maintenance mechanic as required.
6. Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• General knowledge of building maintenance, including basic electrical, plumbing, and HVAC.
• Ability to troubleshoot and complete routine maintenance tasks independently.
• Previous hotel, hospitality, or commercial building maintenance experience preferred.
• Strong customer service and communication skills.
• Ability to work overnight shifts and respond to emergency maintenance needs.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.

Education

Education will be considered in lieu of experience.

Additional Qualifications

MQ: Requires a basic knowledge of grammar, spelling, punctuation and simple mathematical functions like percentages, ratios, etc. This might normally be acquired through attainment of a high school diploma or GED. Requires a minimum of three (3) years of directly job-related experience.
