Position: Maintenance Mechanic II

Department: Maintenance

Reports To: Facilities Maintenance Supervisor

Classification: Full Time - Non-Exempt

Hours: 4/10 Schedule / 5/8 Schedule during harvest (Approx. Aug – Nov.)

Pay: $28.00/hr - $33.66/hr

Position Summary

This role is a key member of the Maintenance team, providing hands-on mechanical skills to support maintenance, repair, and continuous improvement of winery production equipment and infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform scheduled Preventative Maintenance, unplanned critical repairs, and upgrades.
  • Follow and support all safety policies and procedures.
  • Maintain and repair equipment including pumps, valves, grape de-stemmers, wine presses, conveyors, hoists, barrel processing equipment, and rolling stock.
  • Maintain infrastructure systems such as refrigeration, HVAC, water supply/distribution, wastewater treatment, compressed air, and building fixtures.
  • Perform routine monitoring, lubrication, disassembly, welding, plumbing, electrical troubleshooting, and documentation.
  • Drive to multiple local sites as needed.
  • Maintain workplace cleanliness and perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Minimum:

  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
  • Experience in a manufacturing or production environment.
  • Safety-conscious with a high school diploma or GED.
  • Skilled with hand and power tools, able to work at heights, and read technical manuals.
  • Valid CA driver’s license and insurable.
  • Open communication, helpful attitude, and ability to follow directions.
  • Availability for day or swing shifts, overtime during harvest, and personal tools.

Preferred:

  • 5+ years of maintenance experience.
  • LOTO/Confined Space Entry experience.
  • Knowledge of electrical power distribution and controls.
  • Forklift and aerial lift operation experience.
  • Welding skills (TIG & MIG).
  • Post-secondary education or formal training in mechanical trades.
  • Experience with work orders and maintenance systems.
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

Work may be hot, cold, wet, slippery, noisy, and involve hazardous conditions. Must lift at least 50 pounds, work at heights, and perform physical activities such as standing, bending, and twisting. Long hours during harvest are expected. Reasonable accommodations can be made for individuals with disabilities.
