Job summary

Our Lady of the Lake in Baton Rouge, LA, seeks a Mechanic I to maintain, repair, and replace hospital equipment and operate standby plant systems to support patient, visitor, and staff comfort.

The role covers electrical repairs, basic plumbing, and records upkeep. Requires 0–1 year in building/hospital maintenance or construction, with a HS diploma or equivalent.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Preventative Maintenance & Repair
• Repairs lighting systems by replacing bulbs, ballasts, broken plugs, and switches in an effort to provide proper hospital lighting and ensure a safe and comfortable environment for the provision of high-quality health care services.
• Maintains and repairs hospital air conditioning system by changing air filters and replacing and calibrating thermostats in an effort to ensure patient, visitor, and team member comfort.
• Operates standby equipment including boilers, cooling towers, and electrical lines in case of plant systems failure. Repairs steam lines, pumps, motors, and generators in a manner that promotes safety and conforms to hospital standards.
• Repairs or replaces television sets, nurse call systems, and other electrical equipment as requested in a timely and efficient manner.
• Maintains all required records and information pertinent to maintenance and repair costs with special attention given to the accuracy and details of reported information.
• Other Duties as Assigned

The Mechanic I, who reports to the Maintenance Supervisor, maintains, repairs, and replaces various hospital equipment, operates standby equipment in case of plant systems failure, and maintains and repairs the hospital air conditioning system in an effort to ensure patient, visitor, and employee comfort. The Mechanic repairs various electrical equipment, performs basic plumbing repairs, maintains required maintenance records and information, attends meetings, and participates on committees in an effort to promote the prudent operation of the hospital.
