Job summary

A leading baked goods manufacturer is seeking a Maintenance Technician to ensure the efficiency of plant equipment. Key responsibilities include performing preventative and corrective maintenance, troubleshooting machinery, and using advanced techniques for repairs. Candidates should have strong electrical knowledge, preferable PLC/controls experience, and be skilled in TIG welding. Must be able to lift heavy objects and complete necessary safety training. This position is based in Traverse City, Michigan.

Qualifications

• Proof of authorization to work legally in the United States.

Tasks

• This position is responsible for performing preventative and corrective maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of plant operating equipment to ensure overall operating efficiency.
• Perform daily, weekly, monthly, semi‑annual, and annual preventative maintenance on plant equipment.
• Operate equipment such as conveyors, packaging equipment, slicers, pumps, loaders, and injectors.
• Respond to, troubleshoot, and resolve complex operating equipment failures.
• Provide immediate and long‑term corrective action to complex failures using root‑cause analysis and advanced techniques, including thermographic and vibration analysis to predict failures.
• Repair and modify plant operating equipment with precision maintenance techniques as necessary.
• Repair and rebuild complex operating equipment.
• Perform all duties in accordance with safety regulations.
• Use schematics and blueprints during routine troubleshooting.
• Lift, carry, push, and/or pull up to 50 pounds regularly during a shift.
• Complete required forms and training, including Lock‑Out/Tag‑Out and obtaining a forklift/Powered Industrial Truck license.
• Complete basic mathematical calculations in the American and Metric systems.

Required

• At least 6 months of relevant company experience.
• Strong electrical knowledge and PLC/controls experience (preferred).
• TIG welding experience (preferred).
• Must possess four of the six following qualifications:
• Able to diagnose and repair/install hydraulic components/systems.
• Able to diagnose and repair/install pneumatic components/systems.
• Able to troubleshoot and repair/install basic electrical components/systems.
• Able to use shop tools properly and produce work within specified tolerances.
• Able to weld and cut various materials in a professional manner.
• Able to fabricate and install components/systems as engineered and/or instructed.
• Proof of authorization to work legally in the United States and pass a urinalysis screening as part of the post‑offer health assessment.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Willing to work all shifts, variable shifts, weekends, and/or holidays.
