Nucor Steel West Virginia invites applications for a Maintenance Mechanic to uphold safety and ownership in maintenance of steel mill equipment. You will support commissioning of new systems, robotics, and furnace equipment while building long-term reliability through CMMS-driven maintenance plans.

Role requires a minimum 2 years in industrial maintenance, plus mechanical theory knowledge and LOTO experience. Located in Apple Grove, WV with rotating shifts and overtime as needed.

Basic Job Functions:

Nucor Steel West Virginia is seeking aMaintenance Mechanic who demonstrates high levels of honesty, integrity, and ownership in everything they do. The selected teammate will play a critical role in ensuring the team’s success by safely performing preventative and corrective maintenance on steel mill equipment and systems.Nucor is currently completing construction of two world-class galvanizing lines that will produce automotive exposed and construction-grade materials. This role offers a unique opportunity to support the commissioning of new systems, robotics, and furnace equipment, while contributing to long-term reliability by identifying critical spare parts and developing maintenance plans within our CMMS systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Propose and implement innovative solutions to challenges in the steelmaking process with a focus on safety, reliability, quality, cost, and project execution
• Perform mechanical troubleshooting and routine preventative maintenance on equipment
• Interpret and work from mechanical and electrical schematics, including metric and DIN standards
• Apply knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, accumulators, centralized lubrication systems, alignment, power transmission, pumps, and piping systems
• Train teammates on new equipment and modifications to existing systems
• Support operational needs, including the ability to work rotating shifts, weekends, holidays, and scheduled/unscheduled overtime

Nucor Steel West Virginia is Nucor’s newest sheet mill, featuring advanced steelmaking capabilities as part of a greenfield project expected to be fully operational in 2027. This facility will employ approximately 800 teammates and produce up to 3 million tons annually, making it one of the most technologically advanced sheet mills in the industry. Located along the Ohio River in Mason County, WV, the site is conveniently positioned near Huntington and Charleston.

Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Minimum of 2 years of industrial maintenance experience
• Foundational knowledge ofmechanical theory, including hydraulics
• Experience troubleshooting mechanical systems
• Experience working with LOTO procedures for complex systems

Preferred Qualifications:

• 2-year or 4-year degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or related technical field
• Steel mill experience in cold processing operations, including robotics, galvanizing, tempering, pickling, or cold rolling mills
