Job summary

Herff Jones, Inc. in Warwick is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic to diagnose and repair electrical and mechanical systems in a manufacturing setting. The role involves maintaining equipment, performing preventative maintenance, and repairing components using a range of hand and power tools.

You will be on call for nights and weekends to respond to emergencies, with starting pay around $25 per hour. Candidates should have 3–4 years of experience in similar roles and be comfortable reading

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3–4 years of experience in a manufacturing setting.
• Experience with high-speed manufacturing lines.
• Familiar with hydraulic systems and pneumatics.
• Experience with electrical systems and motor drives.
• Knowledge of PLCs (AB PLC-5 / AB SLC-500) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Diagnoses causes of electrical or mechanical malfunctions and performs preventative and corrective maintenance.
• Adjusts, calibrates, aligns and modifies equipment and components.
• Assembles and installs mechanical components and systems using various trade tools.
• Repairs pipes, fittings, and fixtures of heating, water systems and unclogs drains.

• Diagnosescausesof electrical or mechanical malfunction or failure of operational equipment and performs preventative and corrective maintenance
• Adjusts, calibrates,alignsandmodifiesequipment and components
• Assembles and installs mechanical components and systems using a variety of tools common to the trade
• May work on assembling,installingand Repairing pipes, fittings, and fixtures of heating, water and in opening clogged drains
• May act as a carpenter in the alteration, repair and maintenance of buildings, floors, roofs, stairways, partitions, doors, windows, screens, scaffolding forms, woodfixturesand furniture
• May operate all kinds of hand and power tools such as (but not limited to) hand saw, planer, joiner, shaper, table saw, wood lathe, drill press, sanding machine, router etc.
• Willmaintaintools and machinery in good condition and use all tools carefully.Mustalways wear theappropriate PPEfor the task that is being performed! Safety First!
• Will be an “on call” employee and will have to respond on nights, weekends (including Sundays)in the event ofan emergency for equipment malfunctions,snowstormsor other unforeseen happenings

What You’ll Bring To The Table

• Minimum of 3-4years of experience ina similar role in a manufacturing settingin addition tohavingthefollowinghelpful experience:
• Troubleshooting mechanical breakdowns (for example, pinpointing and repairing problems associated withhigh speedmanufacturing line breakdowns)
• Working with hydraulic systems (for example, understanding high-pressure cylinders, pumps, or valves and reading schematics and using for troubleshooting in high-speed manufacturing)
• Working with pneumatics (for example, working with solenoids, cylinders, or motor brakes and reading schematics and using for troubleshooting inhigh speedmanufacturing)
• Working with electrical systems (for example, working with frequency drives, motor testing, troubleshooting, or panels inhigh speedmanufacturing)
• Working with Programmable Logic Controllers – PLC (for example, understanding instructions, editing documentation, and/or navigation for A-B PLC-5 and A-B SLC-500)
• Performing preventative maintenance (for example, conducting computerized preventative maintenance check-ups or reading SPC charts and data)

Physical Requirements

• Lifting, carrying, sitting, grasping, reaching, standing, kneeling, walking, bending, twisting
• Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
• Reading, communication, simple math
• Be able to regularly lift/move up to 25lbs
• Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to above moderate
