Job summary

Thunderbird LLC is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic for a 2nd shift (3:00 PM – 1:30 AM), located in Vonore, Tennessee. The role emphasizes diagnosing and repairing mechanical/electrical issues in metal production equipment, with preventive maintenance and reliability support as core duties.

The position requires reading prints, basic welding/cutting, and familiarity with hydraulics, pneumatics, PLC/SLC, and motor drives.

Qualifications

• Experience in maintenance mechanic or similar role.
• Basic knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, electrical, plumbing and code books.
• Basic mechanical, welding and cutting skills.
• Should be capable of reading mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic prints.
• Good problem-solving skills, safety practices and attention to quality.
• Have basic workbench and computer skills.
• Basic knowledge of relay logic, AC/DC motor drives, PLC & SLC and motor control circuits.
• Intermediate knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, electrical, plumbing, and code books.
• Repair knowledge of pumps, compressors, gear boxes and blowers.

Responsibilities

• Install, repair, and maintain machinery and equipment via preventive maintenance.
• Identify sources of problems by observing devices in operation.
• Dismantle machinery and replace defective parts.
• Read mechanical/electrical/hydraulic/pneumatic prints.
• Maintain inventories of parts and supplies.
• Provide mechanical maintenance information and answer requests.
• Contribute data for maintenance reports by analyzing trends.
• Maintain a safe, clean work environment per procedures and rules.

Job description

Maintenance Mechanic Overview

The Maintenance Mechanics will need an advanced understanding of both mechanical and electrical industrial manufacturing maintenance. This role involves diagnosing and repairing mechanical issues, conducting preventive maintenance, and supporting the overall reliability of metal production equipment. This is a 2nd shift position starting at 3pm and ending at 1:30am working 5 -6 days per week.

Maintenance Mechanic Essential Functions

• Installs, repairs, and maintains machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance.
• Locates sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation.
• Dismantles machinery and removes/replaces defective parts.
• Determines changes in requirements of parts by inspecting and measuring various instruments.
• Maintains inventories of equipment parts and supplies by checking stock and placing orders.
• Provides mechanical maintenance information by answering questions and requests.
• Provides data for maintenance reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
• Maintains a safe and clean work environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.

Maintenance Mechanic Required Experience

Maintenance Mechanic Physical Demands and Work Environment

• The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
• The employee is exposed to moving mechanical parts.
• Frequently required lifting and/or moving up to 30 pounds.
• Frequently required standing, bending, squatting, and reaching with hands and arms.
• Regularly required to stand for extended periods, walk, talk, and hear.
• Ability to use hand tools.
• Ability to read applicable instructions.
