Job summary

Dairy Farmers of America in Schuylkill Haven is hiring a maintenance technician to support a new cheese plant conversion. You will troubleshoot, repair and maintain manufacturing equipment, ensuring safe, efficient operations in a cold, wet facility.

We seek candidates with 2–3 years of field maintenance experience, including electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, electronic and PLC skills, plus the ability to read measurements and use common hand tools. Competitive pay and benefits offered.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• 2–3 years field related experience.
• Must pass pre-employment drug, background and background checks.
• Minimum one year maintenance experience in a manufacturing setting (food/beverage preferred).
• Minimum one year with electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, electronic, PLC and/or HVAC experience.
• Experience with equipment such as lubricating, cleaning, material handling, motor and relay control, process and packaging equipment.
• Ability to perform basic arithmetic and use hand tools.
• Able to stand/walk for long periods and lift up to 50 pounds; work in cold, wet environments.

Our facility in Schuylkill Haven is converting to a cheese plant producing cottage cheese and sour cream in 2026. We are looking for dedicated and qualified workers to be a part of our team.

OUR MECHANICS FOR THIS POSITION CAN MAKE:

• $28.05 - $30.61 per hour

• Must be able to pass all pre-employment screenings including drug, background and criminal checks
• Minimum one year experience in a maintenance role within a manufacturing facility, preferably food and beverage industry
• Minimum one year experience with one or more technical experiences: Electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, electronic, computer-controlled equipment, PLC and/or HVAC
• Minimum one year experience with a variety of equipment including lubricating, cleaning, material handling, motor control, relay control, process control and packaging equipment
• Must be able to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals
• Must be able to handle basic hand tools
• Must be able to stand, walk, kneel and bend required for virtually the entire shift; occasionally required to climb or balance
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally
• Must be able to work in a cold, wet environment with moderate to high noise volume
• May experience some exposure to fumes airborne particles, chemicals or allergens
• Must be willing to work flexible hours including overtime, weekends, and holidays
