Job summary

Cibes Symmetry in Roanoke, IL is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic to perform preventative maintenance and repairs to keep production running efficiently. The role supports plant operations and aims to minimize downtime by improving equipment reliability.

You will troubleshoot mechanical and electrical systems, read schematics, and document work in maintenance systems, while following strict lockout/tagout and safety protocols. This is a full-time, on-site position at our Roanoke facility.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2+ years of industrial maintenance or mechanic experience.
  • Strong mechanical and basic electrical troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret manuals, schematics, and technical documents.
  • Experience using a wide variety of hand and power tools.
  • High school diploma or GED required.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine and preventative maintenance on mechanical and electrical equipment to reduce unplanned breakdowns.
  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical issues such as bearings, gearboxes, pumps, conveyors, hydraulics, and pneumatics.
  • Troubleshoot and repair electrical systems including motors, sensors, control panels, VFDs, and wiring.
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, and equipment manuals to diagnose problems and plan repairs.
  • Safely perform lockout/tagout procedures, follow all safety protocols, and maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Install, adjust, and align new or rebuilt equipment, components, and control devices as needed.
  • Document maintenance work performed, parts used, and findings in work orders or maintenance systems.
  • Communicate equipment status, repair needs, and improvement ideas with supervisors, operators, and other team members.

Job description

The Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for performing preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairing machinery and equipment to keep production running efficiently.This role plays a critical part in minimizing downtime, improving equipment reliability, and supporting overall plant operations.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Perform routine and preventative maintenance on mechanical and electrical equipment to reduce unplanned breakdowns
  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical issues such as bearings, gearboxes, pumps, conveyors, hydraulics, and pneumatics
  • Troubleshoot and repair electrical systems including motors, sensors, control panels, VFDs, and low- to medium-voltage wiring
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, and equipment manuals to diagnose problems and plan repairs
  • Safely perform lockout/tagout procedures, follow all safety protocols, and maintain a clean and organized work area
  • Install, adjust, and align new or rebuilt equipment, components, and control devices as needed
  • Document maintenance work performed, parts used, and findings in work orders or maintenance systems
  • Communicate equipment status, repair needs, and improvement ideas with supervisors, operators, and other team members
Additional Responsibilities
  • Inspect equipment and perform preventative maintenance tasks such as lubrication, filter changes, and system checks
  • Dismantle and reassemble equipment using hand and power tools
  • Assist with general facility maintenance and repairs as needed
  • Participate in training and cross-training efforts
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Required Skills & Qualifications
  • Minimum 2+ years of industrial maintenance or mechanic experience
  • Strong mechanical and basic electrical troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to read and interpret manuals, schematics, and technical documents
  • Experience using a wide variety of hand and power tools
  • High school diploma or GED required

Supervisory Responsibilities

Physical Demands & Work Environment
  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, reaching, and crouching
  • Standing for extended periods of time
  • Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination
  • Lifting up to 25 pounds regularly and up to 50 pounds occasionally
  • Use of hand and power tools
  • Exposure to typical manufacturing noise levels
  • Intermittent exposure to heat or cold
  • Working in proximity to moving mechanical parts and machinery
