Job summary

Apex Geotech Solutions is seeking a Maintenance Technician to perform corrective, preventive, and predictive maintenance on facility equipment, systems, and infrastructure to keep operations safe, reliable, and efficient.

You will troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic issues; document work in CMMS; assist with installation and commissioning of new equipment; read schematics and manuals; and collaborate with Production and Operations to minimize downtime.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Technical or vocational training in industrial maintenance, mechanics, electrical, or related field preferred.
  • 2+ years of maintenance experience in industrial/manufacturing environment preferred.

Job description

Position Summary

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing corrective, preventive, and predictive maintenance on facility equipment, systems, and infrastructure to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operations. This role troubleshoots mechanical, electrical, and basic control issues; completes work orders in a timely manner; and supports continuous improvement initiatives as directed by the Maintenance Manager.

Responsibilities
  • Perform routine, preventive, and corrective maintenance on production equipment, facility systems, and supporting infrastructure in accordance with established schedules and priorities.
  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic issues to minimize downtime and maintain optimal equipment performance.
  • Inspect machinery and equipment regularly to identify potential failures, safety concerns, or performance issues and elevate findings to the Maintenance Manager.
  • Respond to maintenance requests and work orders; document work performed, parts used, and time spent in the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS), if applicable.
  • Assist with installation, startup, and commissioning of new equipment, including mechanical assembly, basic wiring, alignment, and testing.
  • Read and interpret technical documentation such as equipment manuals, schematics, diagrams, and work instructions.
  • Safely operate tools, test equipment, forklifts, scissor lifts, and other maintenance‑related equipment in accordance with company policies and applicable regulations.
  • Maintain an organized, clean, and safe work area; ensure proper storage of tools, parts, and supplies.
  • Support continuous improvement efforts by identifying opportunities to improve reliability, reduce downtime, and optimize maintenance practices.
  • Collaborate with Production, Operations, and other departments to coordinate maintenance work and minimize disruption to business operations.
  • Follow all safety, health, and environmental policies and procedures, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), PPE requirements, and safe work practices.
  • Participate in on‑call rotations or overtime work, as required, to support 24/7 operations or critical maintenance needs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Maintenance Manager.
Education & Experience
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Technical/vocational training in industrial maintenance, mechanics, electrical, or a related field preferred.
  • 2+ years of maintenance experience in an industrial, manufacturing, facilities, or similar environment preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Working knowledge of mechanical systems (bearings, belts, chains, gears, pumps, etc.).
  • Basic‑to‑intermediate knowledge of electrical systems (motors, sensors, breakers, relays) and ability to work safely around electricity.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills with a focus on root cause analysis.
  • Proficient with hand tools, power tools, measuring instruments, and basic test equipment.
  • Ability to use or learn CMMS software for work orders, preventive maintenance tasks, and parts tracking.
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and time management.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
Licenses and Certifications
  • Maintenance‑related certifications (e.g., industrial maintenance, HVAC, electrical, welding) are a plus.
  • Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record may be required depending on job site needs.
Physical Requirements
  • Frequently required to stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, climb, and reach.
  • Regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds; occasionally lift and/or move heavier items with assistance or mechanical lifting devices.
  • Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces, as required by specific tasks.
  • Ability to use hands and fingers to handle tools, parts, and controls.
  • Visual acuity sufficient to read schematics, manuals, computer screens, and inspect equipment.
Work Environment
  • Work performed in a manufacturing/industrial facility and/or maintenance shop environment.
  • Exposure to moving mechanical parts, noise, dust, fumes, and varying temperatures.
  • Use of appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) is required, including safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection, and safety footwear.
  • May require working evenings, nights, weekends, or holidays based on operational needs.
