Job summary

Materion Corporation is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic to support the installation, maintenance, and repair of production equipment at our Newton, MA facility. Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, you will diagnose, tear down, repair, and fabricate components from drawings, while following safety standards.

The role requires a high school diploma and 5+ years of industrial maintenance experience, with a preference for formal technical training and metals industry exposure.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 5+ years of mechanic experience in an industrial maintenance environment.
• Formal technical training is preferred but not required.
• Experience in a metals industrial setting preferred.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities.
• Basic understanding of brakes and clutches.
• Basic understanding of plumbing, plastic, copper and/or black iron.
• Basic understanding with welding/fabrication, pneumatics, and hydraulics.
• Basic understanding regarding machining skills to include lathe, milling, hand tools, and grinders.
• Ability to perform basic carpentry.
• Ability to perform stick, mig, and tig welding.
• Ability to work with a team with an organized and methodical approach.

Responsibilities

• Assist with diagnosing, tearing down, and repairing problems or equipment on plant systems.
• Work from drawings, plans or sketches, fabricating equipment, fixtures, devices, etc. as required.
• Utilize test equipment, instruments, measuring devices and controls, hand and power tools, and material handling equipment.
• Assist in maintaining workflow of maintenance work requests.
• Track progress of work orders, work to close work requests in a timely manner.
• Maintain clean and safe work areas throughout the facility.
• Operates lifting devices as trained by Materion Safety.

Pay Range

$32.44 - $40.07

The selection of the person to be hired for this position is contingent on the candidate having export compliance eligibility for access to U.S. controlled technology which comes under the licensing jurisdiction of the U.S. Department of State, International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and the U.S. Department of Commerce, Export Administration Regulations (EAR).
