Job summary

Materion Corporation is seeking an experienced Manufacturing Engineer to drive process improvements focused on safety, quality and efficiency on the factory floor. You will team with supervisors and operators to implement equipment designs and troubleshoot existing production systems.

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or equivalent.
  • 5–10 years of experience in a similar or related metals manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of process controls (HMI screens, operator interface) to optimize manufacturing equipment efficiencies.
  • Skilled in preparing cost estimates, schedules, and technical reports.
  • Ability to complete project assignments on time, within budget, and in compliance with all applicable codes and safety requirements.
  • Lean Manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Project, and Power Point required.
  • Familiarity with using SolidWorks and AutoCAD.

Responsibilities

  • Team with manufacturing supervisors and operators to address problems and identify opportunities for process improvement.
  • Troubleshoot problems with existing production equipment on the factory floor implementing designs.
  • Engineer, design, install, and commission new production equipment and train operators.
  • Evaluate technical input from direct observations on the factory floor and interfacing with manufacturing personnel and multi-disciplinary engineering groups in order to problem solve complex machinery operational issues.
  • Interpret, prioritize, and complete diverse engineering activities to obtain optimal machinery designs and performance considering plant operability, safety, quality and cost.
  • Evaluate and select suppliers for cost effective sources of materials and subcontracting services.
  • Assign and supervise consulting contractors as required for project completion.

Position Summary

This position is key in driving manufacturing process improvements with the goal of optimizing safety, quality, and efficiency. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS And RESPONSIBILITIES

PHYSICAL DEMANDS and WORK ENVIRONMENT

Position located in a manufacturing environment, exposing the incumbent to machines with movable parts, heat, chemicals and consequently requires that personal protective equipment, provided by the company to be worn.

The selection of the person to be hired for this position is contingent on the candidate having export compliance eligibility for access to U.S. controlled technology which comes under the licensing jurisdiction of the U.S. Department of State, International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and the U.S. Department of Commerce, Export Administration Regulations (EAR).
