Job summary

Cleveland-Cliffs is hiring Maintenance Mechanics for our Tilden Mine operations in Ishpeming, Michigan. You will maintain and repair mining equipment including P&H 4100 and 2800 shovels and electric drills, with a focus on preventive maintenance.

This role requires a 2-year degree or equivalent experience, willingness to work 12-hour rotating shifts, nights, weekends and holidays, and a commitment to safety.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2-year degree in Industrial Maintenance or related field or at least 2 years of directly related full-time work experience.
• Must be able to read, understand and follow safety information, operating instructions and procedure manuals.
• Must wear appropriate personal protective equipment and work safely.
• Must be willing to work rotating shifts, nights, weekends and holidays.
• Must be able to perform 12-hour shifts.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventative maintenance such as oil changes, greasing, bucket hardware changes, and component replacement on P&H 4100/2800 electric shovels and electric drills.
• Perform tire protection chain maintenance on large loaders.
• Maintain pit dewatering pumps and related equipment.
• Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions using manuals, parts books, hydraulics, and computer systems.
• Conduct basic welding and fabrication tasks.

Education

2-year degree in Industrial Maintenance or related field
