Job summary

Cleveland-Cliffs' Tilden Mine in Ishpeming, MI is seeking Heavy Equipment Mechanics to repair and maintain mining trucks, loaders, graders and related equipment. You will troubleshoot issues and work on diesel engines, hydraulics, lubrication, and power transmission systems, often on 12-hour shifts.

Applicants should have a two-year Auto/Diesel program or journeyman certification, be able to read manuals and blueprints, and thrive in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment.

Qualifications

• Two-year Auto/Diesel program or journeyman certification required.
• Ability to read blueprints and manufacturer manuals.
• Willingness to work rotating shifts and overtime.
• Capable of working in hot, dirty, greasy environments.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot equipment issues and failures on mining mobile equipment.
• Repair and maintain diesel, hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical systems.
• Participate in safety hazard recognition and housekeeping.
• Work at heights and in confined spaces as needed.

Location: Ishpeming, MICleveland-Cliffs has immediate openings for Heavy Equipment Mechanics at our Tilden Mine operation located in Ishpeming, Michigan. Heavy Equipment Mechanics are responsible for repairing and maintaining equipment such as trucks, loaders, graders, and other production equipment.Summary of Responsibilities:Troubleshoot equipment issuesRepair and maintain a broad range of mechanical and electrical systems on mining mobile equipment including, but not limited to, diesel engines, hydraulic, pneumatic, lubrication, computer, and power transmission systemsParticipate in safety hazard recognitionMaintain superior housekeepingMay be required to work at heights and/or in confined spacesBe able to work alone with minimal supervision or with other maintenance techniciansWork in hot, cold, dirty, greasy, wet, and/or noisy environmentMinimum Qualifications :Two-year Auto/Diesel or similar degree or certified JourneymanAbility to read blueprints, manufacturer manuals, and other instructional itemsMust be able to function in a fast-paced environmentMust be willing to work rotating shifts, overtime, nights, afternoons, weekends, and holidaysMust be willing to work 12-hour shiftsCleveland-Cliffs Inc. is the largest flat-rolled steel company and the largest iron ore pellet producer in North America.
