Job description

NEW Water is seeking a full-time Maintenance Mechanic to perform a wide range of complex maintenance and repair activities at our wastewater treatment facilities and collection system. The successful candidate will be responsible for inspecting, troubleshooting, repairing, installing, and rebuilding critical equipment while ensuring compliance with all safety and permit requirements. This position requires participation in a rotating standby schedule for emergency breakdowns.

What you’ll be responsible for:

  • Perform preventive, predictive, and emergency maintenance and repairs on various equipment across all facilities.
  • Identify and gather necessary parts, supplies, tools, and materials.
  • Troubleshoot equipment problems using various diagnostic tools.
  • Document work in the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) and maintain accurate records.
  • Use machine shop, welding, pipefitting, media blasting, and painting equipment to fabricate new parts, tools, and rebuild existing equipment to improve the operation of machinery.
What you’ll bring to the team:
  • Associate’s degree (or equivalent) in Electromechanical Technology, Electrical/Instrumentation or Mechanical Maintenance or completion of a State Apprenticeship Program.
  • 4 years of experience.
  • Considerable knowledge of the operation, installation, maintenance, and repair of stationary and mobile mechanical equipment used in a wastewater treatment facility, collection system, or other industrial settings.
  • Knowledge of permit-required confined space, respiratory protection and lockout/tagout procedures.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, system diagrams and blueprints.
  • Valid Wisconsin motor vehicle operator’s license.
  • Great Communication and Collaboration Skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
