Job summary

Welch's Grandview plant is seeking an experienced Maintenance Mechanic to keep production lines running smoothly. You will troubleshoot, repair, and maintain automated equipment across mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic systems.

You must be flexible to work first, second, or third shift, with differential pay for some shifts. Overtime may be required during harvest season in a fast-paced food and beverage environment.

Qualifications

• Three years of hands-on machine maintenance in a food or beverage facility.
• Strong mechanical, electrical, and troubleshooting skills.
• Experience with automated equipment and safety best practices.
• Clear communication with operators, technicians and supervisors.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and repair production equipment to restore operations quickly.
• Work with electrical systems, PLCs, pneumatics, hydraulics, and motors.
• Perform preventive maintenance to reduce downtime and improve reliability.
• Support refrigeration, boiler room, wastewater, and seasonal equipment.
• Collaborate with operators and supervisors to identify and fix issues.
• Set up and adjust production and seasonal equipment as needed.
• Recommend improvements to equipment safety, reliability, and performance.
• Adhere to safety, food safety, sanitation, and housekeeping rules.

Maintenance Mechanic

Pay Rate: $33.47 per hour, plus shift differential

Location: Welch's Grandview, Washington Plant | Union Facility and Position

When equipment stops, you're the person who gets things moving again. Bring your troubleshooting skills and mechanical know-how to Welch's, where you'll help keep the equipment behind our food and beverage products running strong.

We're looking for an experienced Maintenance Mechanic who enjoys getting hands-on, figuring out tough equipment problems, and making repairs that last. From preventive maintenance to unexpected breakdowns, your work will make a difference every shift.

Your Schedule

You must be available to work first, second, or third shift. Your assigned shift may change based on plant needs.

• First shift: 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
• Second shift: 3:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., plus $0.45 per hour
• Third shift: 11:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m., plus $0.60 per hour

The regular schedule is Monday through Friday. Harvest is a busy season at Welch's, and workdays and hours may change to meet production needs. Harvest runs from approximately early September to late October each year. Overtime may be available or required in four-hour blocks.

What You'll Do

• Solve equipment problems: Troubleshoot and repair production and processing equipment to get operations back on track.
• Put your technical skills to work: Work with electrical systems, PLCs, pneumatics, hydraulics, motors, motion controls, and mechanical systems.
• Stay ahead of breakdowns: Complete preventive maintenance that improves reliability, reduces downtime, and keeps equipment operating safely.
• Keep the whole plant moving: Support refrigeration, boiler room, wastewater, building, and seasonal equipment.
• Work through challenges together: Partner with operators and supervisors to identify problems and find effective solutions.
• Get equipment production-ready: Set up and adjust production and seasonal equipment.
• Make things work better: Recommend improvements to equipment safety, reliability, and performance.
• Take pride in how you work: Follow all safety, food safety, sanitation, and housekeeping requirements.

What You'll Bring

• At least three years of hands-on machine maintenance and repair experience in a food or beverage manufacturing facility
• Strong mechanical, electrical, and troubleshooting skills
• Experience working safely with complex, automated equipment
• Clear communication and the ability to work well with operators, technicians, and supervisors
• The initiative to work independently and take action when equipment needs attention
• A strong record of safety and continuous improvement
• The ability to work in a facility that is not temperature controlled
• Flexibility to work any shift based on plant needs
• Experience with Lean or Six Sigma is a plus.
