Allied Reliability in Goose Creek, SC is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic to fabricate, install, inspect, test, repair, operate, and maintain machinery and facilities throughout the plant. The role requires safe, independent work responding to routine maintenance needs, breakdowns, PMs, and overhauls.

Candidates should have 5 years of industrial mechanical maintenance experience and a high school diploma or GED, with preferred formal apprenticeship or equivalent trade training.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot, dismantle, repair, assemble, inspect, and test equipment.
  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance.
  • Maintain and repair hydraulic systems, gearboxes, conveyors, vibrating feeders, hammer mills, cranes, mechanical drives, and other industrial equipment.
  • Install, inspect, maintain, and repair piping systems.
  • Read and work from blueprints, sketches, diagrams, manuals, and equipment instructions.
  • Perform welding, cutting, brazing, soldering, and metal fabrication.
  • Operate cranes and mobile equipment and assist with scaffolding.
  • Use a variety of hand and power tools, including grinders, saws, drill presses, benders, shears, pipe-threading equipment, etc.
  • Complete maintenance documentation and use the plant's CMMS/computer systems.
  • Participate in PM, lubrication, problem-solving, and maintenance-improvement activities.
  • Assist with parts/inventory control.
  • Respond to equipment breakdowns and work outside normal hours when required.
  • Work a rotating shift.
  • Follow all plant PPE and safety requirements.

Location: Mt. Holly / Goose Creek, SC

Reports to: Maintenance Supervisor

Experience: 5 years of industrial mechanical maintenance experience

Position Summary

The Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for fabricating, installing, inspecting, testing, repairing, operating, and maintaining machinery, equipment, structures, and facilities throughout the plant. The mechanic is expected to work safely and independently while responding to routine maintenance needs, breakdowns, PMs, and overhauls.

Key Responsibilities
  • Troubleshoot, dismantle, repair, assemble, inspect, and test industrial equipment.
  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance.
  • Maintain and repair hydraulic systems, gearboxes, conveyors, vibrating feeders, hammer mills, cranes, mechanical drives, and other industrial equipment.

Physical Requirements

This is a very hands-on industrial maintenance position. The posting specifically calls for the ability to:

  • Lift/carry equipment, tools, and parts up to 50 lbs.
  • Work on concrete floors for extended periods.
  • Climb ladders and work at elevated locations.
  • Work in tight/awkward positions.
  • Frequently kneel, squat, crawl, bend, reach and work overhead.
  • Use hand tools, pneumatic tools and jackhammers.
  • Apply up to 250 ft-lbs. of torque in some tasks.
  • Perform welding and other fabrication work.
