Job summary

Hunterdon Health Care System is seeking a skilled maintenance technician to perform routine maintenance and emergency repairs at satellite locations of Hunterdon Medical Center, ensuring safety, reliability, and cost-effective operation. The role collaborates with Facilities Management, vendors, and site staff to complete tasks and support patient care.

Responsibilities include HVAC and building systems repair, fire extinguisher inspections, equipment moves, and maintaining vehicles and parts

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
• 5 years of experience across all construction trades.
• Valid Driver’s License required.
• EPA refrigerant license/certification preferred.
• HVAC troubleshooting and repair experience required.
• Ability to work independently.
• Experience with Building Automation Systems preferred.
• PC literate and quick to learn new applications.
• Experience in construction and roofing preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance and emergency repairs at off-site locations for building exterior, interior, windows, doors, hardware, lighting, electrical, plumbing, water softeners, HVAC, and carpentry; assemble equipment as needed.
• Assist with office or equipment moves and respond to emergencies including power failures, natural disasters, and snow removal.
• Conduct monthly fire extinguisher inspections and test battery egress lighting; document findings timely.
• Communicate with site staff to determine needs and coordinate with Maintenance Supervisors on major issues.
• Maintain hospital vehicle and inventory of supplies and parts; manage fuel and oil and service reminders.
• Process work orders from dispatch, prioritize, complete paperwork, and submit timely.
• Assist colleagues with other department projects as required.

Position Summary

Performs maintenance and repairs at Satellite Locations of Hunterdon Medical Center, collaborating with Facilities Management, Vendors and Personnel of that location to assure the required work or any issues are completed. Performs duties in support of the Medical Center mission to ensure the highest quality of patient care in an economically sound and efficient manner. Performs other duties as assigned.

Primary Position Responsibilities

1. Perform routine maintenance and emergency repairs at off-site locations for building exterior, interior, windows, doors, hardware, lighting, electrical, plumbing, water softeners, HVAC, and carpentry. Assembles stands, carts, chairs, shelves and any other equipment when assigned in a timely manner.
2. Facilitates and participates in office or equipment moves. Assists with all emergencies including power failures, natural disasters, and snow removal.
3. Performs monthly inspections of fire extinguishers and testing of battery egress lighting and completes documentation in a timely manner
4. Communicate with staff at location of work to determine their needs and assure that the work is done properly. As well as Communicate with Maintenance Supervisor(s) of any major problems at locations or if assistance is needed.
5. Maintain hospital vehicle such as gas and oil and advise when service is needed. Maintain inventory of supplies and parts needed for daily activities.
6. Make repairs based on work orders generated from dispatch according to priority, complete paperwork and turn in on a timely basis.
7. Other duties as assigned including assisting co-workers with various projects that occur in the department outside of normal responsibilities.

Qualifications

Minimum Education:

Required:

High School Diploma or Equivalent

Preferred:

Certificate and/or Advanced Specialized or Technical Training in one or more trades.

Minimum Years of Experience (Amount, Type and Variation):

Required:

5 Years all construction trades

Preferred:

2 years commercial and/or healthcare experience

License, Registry or Certification:

Required:

Valid Driver’s License

Preferred:

EPA Universal Refrigerant Recovery License and/or certification

Knowledge, Skills and/or Abilities:

Required:

• Knowledge of the tools, materials and equipment required for use to make repairs, installation(s) and assembly in the various trades.
• Skill in analyzing HVAC malfunctions and making adjustments and repairs of HVAC systems
• Must have ability to work independently

Preferred:

• Previous experience with Building Automation Systems
• PC literate and able to learn new applications quickly
• Previous experience in Construction and Roofing.
