Job summary

Bell International Laboratories, Inc. in Eagan, MN is seeking a Maintenance Technician to maintain production and quality by ensuring operation of machinery and equipment, diagnosing problems, and performing repairs promptly.

You will execute maintenance tasks, monitor uptime, follow GMP and SOPs, and participate in safety training. A two-year mechanics degree and 1–4 years of related experience are preferred; Spanish fluency is a plus.

Qualifications

• Two-year degree in mechanics; plus, one to four years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Experience maintaining machinery and equipment in a manufacturing setting.

Responsibilities

• Execute assignments from Maintenance team to minimize downtime and maximize quality, safety, and run time.
• Ensure operation of machinery and equipment by completing preventive maintenance on conveyors and production machines.
• Locate sources of problems by observing devices in operation and using testing instruments.
• Remove defective parts by dismantling devices and using hoists, cranes, and tools.
• Control downtime by informing production workers of preventive maintenance techniques and monitoring compliance.
• Maintain inventories of equipment, parts and supplies and place orders as needed.
• Uphold safe and clean working environment by following procedures and regulations.
• Adhere to GMP, SOP and safety training, and participate in related sessions.

Position Summary:

Maintains production and quality by ensuring operation of machinery and mechanical equipment. Diagnose problems and affect repairs to Plant equipment on a timely basis.

Key Responsibilities:

• Execute assignments received from the Maintenance team in a timely and accurate fashion with the objective of minimizing downtime and maximizing quality, safety, and run time.
• Ensure operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements on conveyor systems, and production machines.
• Locate sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation; listening for problems; using precision measuring and testing instruments.
• Remove defective parts by dismantling devices; using hoists, cranes, and hand and power tools; examining form and texture of parts.
• Control downtime by informing production workers of routine preventive maintenance techniques; monitoring compliance.
• Maintain equipment, parts, and supplies inventories by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed equipment, parts, and supplies; placing and expediting orders; verifying receipt.
• Maintain safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
• Understand and adhere to GMP, SOP and safety procedures at all times.
• Participate, as required, in safety and GMP training sessions, and other company training sessions.

• Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance
• Care and maintenance of commonly used hand and power tools and equipment
• Knowledge of electric motors, generators, pumps, pressure systems, water systems and other equipment and systems found in the facilities

Required Education and Experience

Physical Demands

• Regular standing, walking, reaching, and handling of materials and equipment.
• Frequent lifting and moving of objects weighing up to 50 pounds, with occasional heavier loads.
