Job summary

USG is seeking a maintenance technician for its Dallas area plant. You will perform troubleshooting, repairs, and preventive maintenance on motors, pneumatic/hydraulic systems, conveyors, and production equipment, following manuals and drawings.

You’ll work in a team, communicate clearly, and participate in safety and continuous improvement initiatives. The role requires the ability to read instructions, climb steps and ladders, and maintain a personal tool set.

  • Consistently demonstrate understanding of all plant & departmental safety rules, standards, and programs.
  • Meet the essential physical requirements of the position. Climb steps and ladders.
  • Maintain regular and predictable attendance.
  • Understand verbal and written instructions from plant supervision and efficiently perform tasks.
  • Responsible for maintaining a set of personal tools as specified in the operator rate program.

Responsibilities

  • Perform troubleshooting, repairs, and preventive maintenance on motors, pneumatic/hydraulic systems, conveyors, and production machines; follow diagrams, manuals, and specifications; troubleshoot malfunctions.
  • Become familiar with the plant work order system.
  • Adhere to plant storeroom procedures and operational rules.
  • Proficiency in using hand and power tools, cranes/hoist, rigging equipment, welders, fall restraint, etc.
  • Work as part of a team, communicating and cooperating to achieve results.
  • Take an active role in safety and continuous improvement initiatives as required by supervision.
  • Adapt to scheduling requirements including shift work, overtime, weekends, etc.

Job description

Role & Responsibilities:
  • Compliance with all safety and housekeeping rules.
  • Perform troubleshooting, repairs, and preventive maintenance activities necessary to keep industrial equipment operating efficiently. Tasks may include but are not limited to motors, pneumatic tools, hydraulic systems, conveyor systems, and production machines; following diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer's instructions, engineering specifications; and troubleshooting malfunctions.
  • Become familiar with plant work order system.
  • Adhere to plant storeroom procedures and operational rules.
  • Proficiency in using hand and power tools, cranes/hoist, rigging equipment, welders, fall restraint, etc.
  • Work as part of a team, communicating and cooperating to achieve the required results.
  • Expected to take an active role in all plant safety and continuous improvement initiatives as required by supervision.
  • Adaptable to scheduling requirements including shiftwork, assignment of overtime, working weekends, etc. where applicable.

Additional Information:
  • 8-hour work schedule with mandatory overtime.
  • Day shift - 7a-3p, 2nd shift - 3p-11p, Night shift - 11p-7a
  • Schedule: Monday - Friday with regular Saturday work.
Hourly Salary: $32.50

Rate of pay may be adjusted based on the qualifications and experience of the candidate.
