Job summary

EMR USA Metal Recycling is seeking a skilled Maintenance Mechanic in Baton Rouge, LA. You will keep our equipment running safely and efficiently by performing preventative maintenance, diagnosing issues, and repairing a range of mechanical systems.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years of maintenance experience with heavy machinery.
• Strong background in electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and mechanical systems.
• High school diploma or GED; valid driver's license.
• Ability to lead or support a maintenance team; able to work independently.

EMR is currently hiring for a skilled Maintenance Mechanic to join our team in Baton Rouge, LA. In this role, you’ll be responsible for keeping our equipment running safely and efficiently through timely preventative maintenance and quality repairs. You’ll inspect, troubleshoot, and repair a wide range of mechanical systems, including diesel engines and hydraulic equipment, while ensuring all work meets company and safety standards.

What We’re Looking For

• Experience: Minimum of 3 years of maintenance experience, including work with heavy machinery, trucks, and metal processing equipment.
• Technical Knowledge: Strong background in electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and mechanical systems.
• Skills:
• Ability to lead or support a maintenance team.
• Excellent troubleshooting and problem‑solving abilities.
• Capable of working independently with minimal supervision.
• Comfortable working overhead, climbing ladders, kneeling, and standing for long periods.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Reliable, safety‑conscious, and organized.
• Education: High school diploma or GED required.
• License: Must hold a valid driver’s license.

Work Environment

• Work is primarily outdoors and may involve exposure to weather conditions such as heat, cold, rain, or snow.
• Personal protective equipment (PPE) is required.
• Work hours may vary, and occasional evening or weekend shifts may be necessary.
