Job summary

Dart Container is seeking a Maintenance Manager to lead safety, reliability, and facilities across our production operations. You will oversee preventive and predictive maintenance, drive KPI-driven improvements, and manage a multi-discipline team responsible for equipment, security, and grounds.

The role requires strong leadership, deep maintenance knowledge, and experience with SAP or equivalent ERP systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree with five years supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment.
• High school diploma or equivalent with eight years supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Four years maintenance experience, manufacturing preferred.
• Two years specific experience performing maintenance and equipment reliability.
• Knowledge in multiple maintenance and skilled trades disciplines such as mechanical and electrical maintenance, HVAC, plumbing, carpentry, pipefitting, automation, robotics, and controls.
• Experience using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) for reporting.

• Audit the floor and ensure adherence to standard work; initiate root-cause analyses for equipment issues.

Manage maintenance, reliability, and facilities operations with a focus on meeting Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) for safety, quality, production, maintenance, efficiency, and service. Responsible for the overall upkeep of production equipment and machines, and facility building and grounds, by scheduling and execution of preventive, predictive, and reactive maintenance.

Day to Day Role:

• Manage and promote practices and processes intended to provide safe products that comply with appropriate laws and regulations, meet the company quality standards, and serve the needs of our customers
• Take ownership and demonstrate leadership necessary to achieve goals specific to Safety, Quality, Service, Efficiency and Employee Development
• Monitor KPI’s anticipating and correcting trends which would compromise achievement of targets
• Lead by example to promote and encourage employees to strongly commit to safety and GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices)
• Manage the team responsible for the installation, maintenance, and improvement of machinery, equipment and facilities, janitorial services, site security, systems, and grounds
• Direct, supervise, and /or assist in plant and facility capital improvement projects and installations
• Evaluate, recommend, and acquire tools for use, including process analysis software, and other physical tools and resources specific to reliability and maintenance improvement
• Lead training efforts to ensure maintenance technicians have needed resources for standard operating procedures (SOP’s), work instructions, specialty tools, and updated Preventive Maintenance (PM) kits
• Sets priorities for maintenance backlog and oversees long-range and short-range maintenance schedules
• Ensure that maintenance work execution is compliant with statutory regulations
• Develop and implement a comprehensive preventive maintenance program to improve machinery performance (i.e., uptime, reliability, and efficiency)
• Oversee the execution of preventive, predictive, and autonomous maintenance plans, and hold team accountable for adhering to the proper work standards related to precision maintenance as per job plans
• Coordinate with maintenance planners and the production department to build weekly proactive maintenance schedule with detailed job plans
• Analyze production schedules and work orders to determine work priorities for repairs, maintenance, and installation
• Administer and improve systems and procedures for maintenance work orders
• Develop and implement a system for the collection and maintenance of data and statistics of maintenance history and maintenance needs on production equipment
• Solicit assistance from other departments and management as necessary to achieve goals and targets
• Utilize computer applications to maintain data and run reports
• Audit the floor as required by Leader Standard Work, monitor metrics, verify adherence to procedures/standard work and correct deficiencies as necessary
• Participate in root-cause analysis for repetitive damage and failure rates, work with other groups in proactively resolving equipment issues
• Understand, support, and follow management expectations in alignment with company values

Core Skills and Qualifications:

The ideal candidate must possess the following:

• Bachelor's Degree with five (5) years previous supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment with demonstrated strong leadership and management skills, OR
• High school diploma or equivalent with eight (8) years previous supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment with demonstrated strong leadership and management skills
• Four (4) years maintenance experience, manufacturing preferred
• Two (2) years specific experience performing maintenance and equipment reliability
• Displays strong interpersonal skills and is accessible and approachable
• Knowledge in multiple maintenance and skilled trades disciplines such as mechanical and electrical maintenance, HVAC, plumbing, carpentry, pipefitting, automation, robotics, and controls, and/or energy and utilities
• Familiar with phone and voice systems, onsite or third-party security, and security systems
• Knowledge of business and management principles specifically as it relates to maintenance planning, resource allocation, cost analysis and budgeting, people management, and leadership guidance
• Experienced in reading and interpreting schematics, blueprints, and electrical drawings
• Ability to utilize and train employees on technology, processes, and procedures
• Excellent verbal and written skills necessary in order to communicate intricate job-related processes
• Experience using Microsoft Office, including the ability to create reports, documents, presentations and spreadsheets in MS Word, MS Excel, and MS PowerPoint
• Previous plant production software experience required; SAP experience preferred
• Ability to perform root cause analysis, compare and investigate information, and recommend and implement resolution
• Demonstration of minimum proficiency with the English language in order to ensure effective new hire training and on-going communications about safety and quality issues

Preferred Skills and Qualifications:

• Eight (8) years of engineering, facilities, machinery maintenance and/or reliability experience
• Understanding of reliability tools and strategies including direct experience facilitating Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) or Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM), and Root Cause Analysis (RCA)
• Associate or Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, electrical or industrial engineering
• Experience managing multi-shift or continuous operations
• Paper converting, chemical or plastics processing, or packaging industrial experience
• Lean manufacturing experience
