Job description

We are seeking a proactive and experienced Long-Term Facility Maintenance Manager to oversee the planning, coordination, and execution of maintenance operations for a long-term care facility. This role is responsible for ensuring the safety, functionality, and regulatory compliance of the facility s infrastructure, systems, and equipment while maintaining a comfortable and secure environment for residents and staff.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Oversee the daily operations of the facility s maintenance team, including assigning tasks, managing schedules, and evaluating performance.
  • Develop and implement preventative maintenance plans to minimize downtime and prolong the life of building systems and equipment.
  • Monitor and manage the maintenance budget, including procurement of parts, tools, and services.
  • Ensure all systems (HVAC, plumbing, electrical, elevators, etc.) are operating efficiently and in compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Conduct regular inspections of buildings, grounds, and equipment to identify issues and plan corrective actions.
  • Coordinate with external vendors and contractors for repairs, renovations, or specialized maintenance tasks.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and reports for audits and regulatory reviews.
  • Stay current on state and federal facility regulations, particularly those related to healthcare or long-term care environments (e.g., CMS, OSHA, ADA).
  • Lead response efforts in emergency situations such as power outages, floods, or equipment failures.
  • Collaborate with nursing and administrative staff to ensure facility conditions support resident well-being and operational efficiency.

Qualifications :

  • Education : High school diploma or GED required; Associate or Bachelor s degree in Facility Management, Engineering, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience : Minimum 5 years of experience in facility maintenance, with at least 2 years in a healthcare, long-term care, or similar environment.
  • Certifications : Certified Facility Manager (CFM), HVAC certification, or other relevant certifications a plus.
  • Skills :

Strong knowledge of building systems and maintenance best practices

  • Leadership and team management skills
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making ability
  • Strong communication and documentation skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and maintenance management software (e.g., CMMS)
