Job description

Reporting to the Site Manager, Scrap Metal Services is seeking an Experienced Maintenance Manager to oversee the Mechanic Team and manage diesel, hydraulic, and electric mobile equipment, including haul trucks, loaders, material handlers, and support equipment. The position is based onsite at Cleveland Cliffs Burns Harbor facility.

Responsibilities:

• Provide leadership and direction to unionized maintenance technicians and external contractors.
• Contribute to the development and compliance of the maintenance budget.
• Oversee repair costs, parts selection, ordering, and receipting.
• Review, audit, and control workshop labor efficiencies, standards, and throughput.
• Ensure adherence to Health and Safety, Environmental, and Quality policies.
• Liaise with the Maintenance Planner and Production Managers on technical issues, resource allocation, and equipment planning using Oracle ERP System (JDE).
• Promote teamwork and ensure clear communication of expectations and work assignments.

Qualifications:

• Minimum of five (5) years of maintenance management experience.
• Strong diagnostic and repair skills with diesel and hydraulic heavy mobile equipment.
• Ability to read and interpret equipment service manuals.
• Commitment to safety standards and practices.
• Ability to provide personal tools required for the role.
• Strong computer skills.
• Self-directed, team-oriented, able to work independently, and lead by example.
• Ability to troubleshoot equipment breakdowns.
