Job summary

CNY Feeds in Jordan, NY seeks a motivated Maintenance Manager to oversee maintenance of feed milling equipment and to implement preventative programs. The role requires hands-on experience with motors, hydraulics, conveyors, welding, electrical work, and fabrication.

You will manage a small maintenance team, ensure safety and regulatory compliance, maintain inventory, and prioritize repairs. Salary is competitive with full healthcare benefits and 2x annual bonuses based on performance.

Qualifications

• Read, comprehend and write simple instructions and memos.

• Rebuild rolls, reducers, gearboxes and other mill equipment.

• Two to four years trade school or college, or 7+ years related experience.

CNY Feeds, a family-owned feed mill located in Jordan, NY is seeking a highly self-motivated individual to fill the full-time position of Maintenance Manager. We have been in business for 30+ years, primarily serving regional dairy farms, and have a fantastic team of hard-working and committed individuals in Jordan, NY – about 10 miles west of Syracuse.

This individual will be responsible for maintenance and care of feed manufacturing equipment consisting of motors, bearings, bucket elevators, hydraulics, pumps, compressors, drag and screw augers; following and performing preventative maintenance programs; carpentry, electrical, plumbing, welding, and fabrication.

Pay is competitive and will vary based on skill level and experience. Includes full healthcare benefits. This position requires a solid understanding of feed mill equipment, ability to troubleshoot problems, carpentry, plumbing, electrical knowledge and experience, physical strength and a positive attitude and solid work ethic.

Responsibilities

• Manages, prioritizes, and organizes work for existing maintenance staff (2 persons).
• Follows and performs regular and preventative maintenance schedules on all feed equipment.
• Maintains appropriate checklists; monitors work for legal and/or regulatory compliance.
• Evaluates and assesses maintenance issues and equipment breakdowns determining appropriate measures to repair or replace. - Understand and maintain feed mill equipment.
• Welding and fabrication; carpentry, hydraulic, plumbing, and electrical.
• Maintains inventory of maintenance equipment and supplies for normal operations and emergencies.
• Comply with all company policies, procedures, and safety requirements; understands OSHA, Safety and HAZMAT regulations, comply with all Federal, state, and local laws.
• Performs other related duties in and around the mill as needed.
• Other duties may be assigned at the discretion of the General Manager.

Requirements

• Ability to read, comprehend and write simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
• Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to vendors, and other employees of the organization.
• Ability to carry out instructions in written, oral or diagram form applying common sense understanding.
• Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Excel and related software.
• Ability to perform job duties, self-manage time and problem solve independently.
• Ability to rebuild rolls, reducers, gearboxes, and other mill equipment.
• Previous experience in agriculture preferred.
• Good physical condition: can regularly stand; walk; climb; use hands; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear; able to regularly life and/or move up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to frequently climb, or balance; occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Solid understanding of health and safety regulations.
• Exposure to working near moving mechanical parts; fumes or airborne particles; outdoor weather conditions; vibration; and high levels of dust. (Appropriate PPE provided by employer)
• Exposure to work in high, places and noise level in the work environment is usually loud. (Appropriate PPE provided by employer)
• Two to four years trade school or college with related coursework; and/or 7 yrs related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Pay commensurate to experience & ability ($110K-$140K base salary)
• 2X yearly performance bonus (5-15% annual earnings equivalent)
