Purpose
The Maintenance Manager is responsible for managing the maintenance functions within the Reading Plant. This leader manages the team, drives overall equipment efficiency, equipment maintenance, facilities maintenance, and continuous improvement activities that help the site reach operating goals and objectives.
Key accountabilities and deliverables
- Develop and implement maintenance procedures and strategies to minimize equipment downtime and ensure operational efficiency.
- Ensure preventive maintenance and calibration programs are well planned, executed, and documented.
- Work cross-functionally to develop, deploy, and sustain lean manufacturing processes, including Value Stream Mapping, 5S, Standard Work, Problem Solving, and other lean concepts, to create a culture of continuous improvement and manufacturing efficiency.
- Plan, monitor and control headcount, capital expenditures and other maintenance expenses.
- Negotiate contracts with outside vendors for execution of maintenance work.
- Solve complex problems using standard problem-solving techniques to keep teams focused on data‑driven decisions and conclusions.
- Personnel responsibility for assigned members of the technical team, including hiring, evaluation, career development, and defining and evolving the organizational structure, delegation of authority, and cooperation with intra‑departmental, intra‑company, and partner stakeholders.
- Process/Methods/Tools ownership: selection, definition, installation, supervision of proper use.
- Technology, innovation and IP management through strategic planning and deployment in accordance with business requirements.
- Support Food Safety Management System programs: lead and direct team members to achieve food safety goals and program requirements, provide functional expertise, allocate resources, and actively communicate.
- Perform timely technical investigations and provide practical manufacturing solutions, under appropriate regulatory guidelines.
- Assist or lead in prompt implementation of non‑conformance resolution and corrective and preventive action(s).
- Provide plant input in manufacturing process development, including process design requirements, risk analysis, traceability matrix, design history file, and more.
- Apply experience with manufacturing process equipment to lead the selection and/or design of equipment for prototype and full‑scale production.
- Evaluate and upgrade process equipment as required.
Essential criteria
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Manufacturing Engineering.
- Minimum 5 years of leadership experience within a manufacturing environment.
- 10+ years of maintenance or production experience within a manufacturing environment.
