Job summary

MAU Workforce Solutions is seeking a Maintenance Manager for our client in Portage, WI. In this direct-hire opportunity, you will lead the plant maintenance department, ensuring that production equipment runs reliably, while driving continuous improvement efforts.

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years of experience in maintenance engineering within a chemical manufacturing environment. You will be responsible for managing maintenance personnel and implementing effective maintenance strategies.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in maintenance within a chemical manufacturing setting.
  • Previous supervisory experience is essential.
  • Experience with predictive maintenance technologies, including ultrasound and thermal imaging.

MAU is hiring a Maintenance Manager for our client in Portage, WI. As a Maintenance Manager, you will lead the plant maintenance department to ensure production equipment operates reliably, maintenance strategies support business objectives, and continuous improvement initiatives drive plant performance. This is a direct-hire opportunity.

Required Education and Experience
  • Experience in maintenance and reliability engineering.
  • 5+ years of related experience in a chemical manufacturing environment.
  • Previous supervisory experience.
  • 3–5 years of people management experience.
Preferred Education and Experience
  • Experience with predictive maintenance technologies, including ultrasound, vibration monitoring, and thermal imaging.
  • Experience using data historians.
  • CAD experience.
  • Ability to read, understand, and modify PLC ladder logic.

  • Ability to wear a respirator as required by assigned tasks or chemical safety data sheets.
Essential Functions
  • Minimize plant equipment downtime to meet production demands.
  • Utilize the CMMS system to effectively plan preventive maintenance activities.
  • Identify and eliminate plant safety issues requiring engineering controls.
  • Lead the plant maintenance team to improve the performance of capital assets.
  • Manage the performance and professional development of maintenance personnel.
  • Lead Kaizen activities and promote a continuous improvement culture.
  • Encourage employee skill development and professional growth opportunities.
  • Hire, mentor, train engineers, and support staff.
  • Collaborate with business development and process design teams to develop engineering solutions for new products.
  • Develop cost-effective engineering designs that meet project objectives while following EHS principles.
  • Ensure maintenance personnel follow SOPs, safety protocols, and conduct daily pre-work safety tailgate meetings.
  • Develop and improve site maintenance strategies, including support for new equipment installations.
  • Coordinate contractor activities to ensure work is completed safely, on schedule, and within budget.
  • Assess and implement engineering controls to eliminate identified plant safety risks.
  • Ensure plant drawings, layouts, P&IDs, and related documentation remain current.
  • Communicate project timelines and spending profiles with internal customers.
  • Develop and improve maintenance policies and procedures.
  • Ensure maintenance personnel complete all required training.
  • Optimize spare parts management, asset classification, and maintenance strategies.
  • Maintain equipment maintenance records.
  • Provide repair cost estimates and project timelines.
  • Identify risks, opportunities, and develop countermeasures.
  • Maintain engineering and maintenance documentation for accuracy.
  • Maintain a visible presence on the production floor by routinely walking assigned areas, communicating with associates, identifying at‑risk behaviors and hazardous conditions, and taking immediate corrective action.
  • Understand and support Responsible Care Management System (RCMS) and RC-14001 certification requirements.
  • Support Environmental, Health, Safety, Security, and Responsible Care policies and procedures.
  • Help reduce environmental impacts associated with work activities.
  • Understand the consequences of deviations from operating procedures.
  • Report accidents and releases according to company escalation procedures.
  • Comply with all environmental, health, safety, security, and Responsible Care requirements.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of environmental, health, safety, security, and Responsible Care programs.
