Job description

BASIC FUNCTION:

The HF Sinclair Maintenance Manager in Petrolia, Pennsylvania, is responsible for directing activities of plant maintenance projects and assisting with the development of a reliability-based maintenance strategy.The ideal candidate will provide leadership, resolve problems and issues as they arise, oversee safety performance and cost control with minimal supervision.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: (functions considered essential as defined by ADA)
  • Uncompromising attitude towards the safe work performance of the organization, its employees and those who visit.
  • Optimize machinery and equipment uptime to ensure achievement of operational plans.
  • Transform the maintenance culture to a systems based, systematic problem solving approach.
  • Reduce maintenance expenses, develop maintenance budget, and manage plant maintenance costs.
  • Procedure and Training development for department.
  • Management of facility storeroom
  • Manage Turnaround activities including but not limited to scheduling, budget, and manpower.
  • Create and model a culture of Continuous Improvement throughout the department.
  • Ensure maintenance field activities proceed in a safe, environmentally sound and efficient manner, including schedule adherence to support both production and work quality commitments.
  • Develop job specifications and ensures appropriate supervision of outside services for general maintenance and specialty work.
  • Ensure maintenance work is performed per plant procedures and standards.
  • Ensure maintenance results enable compliance with applicable regulatory standards.
  • Develop the long-term strategic plans for equipment reliability and mechanical integrity and ensure cost effective execution of the plan.
  • Ability to implement Root Cause Analysis (RCA) investigations and direct capital project improvements as necessary.
  • Manage Mechanical Integrity team to ensure safe and reliable operations to company standards.
  • Create a culture in the department to support production and equipment efficiency.

Special assignments or tasks assigned to the employee by their supervisor, as determined from time to time in their sole and complete discretion.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
  • 7+ years relevant chemical industry experience
  • 5+ yearsexperience must be in maintenance leadership position
  • Experience working within a union environment
REQUIRED EDUCATIONAL LEVEL:

A Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Engineering or a related field or equivalent work experience will be accepted as well.

PREFERRED EDUCATIONAL LEVEL:

A Master's level degree in business-based field or MBA.

REQUIRED SKILLS:
  • Experience leading complex plant maintenance projects
  • Technical expertise in maintenance craft capabilities and effective work sequencing to ensure optimization of maintenance activities
  • Advanced skills in negotiating with outside contractors
  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and conflict resolution skills
  • Mid to advanced level skills in Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Experience using SAP or similar plant systems for maintenance
  • Broad working knowledge of rotating, fixed, electrical, and instrumentation equipment including but not limited to pumps, mixers, motors, valves, insulation, starters, conveyors, cylinders, exchangers, boilers, HVAC, and tanks
  • Knowledgeable on relevant standards for the facility including but not limited to API, NFPA, SPCC, ASME, National Board, OSHA, and DEP
  • Ability to read engineering drawings (P&ID, isometrics, schematics, etc.)
SUPERVISORY/MANAGERIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsible for the supervision of union and non-union employees. May also be required to provide oversite of contractors.

WORK CONDITIONS:

Work is performed in a plant setting. Requires time spent in both the office and in the plant. Must maintain a valid drivers license for use of company vehicles (owned, rented or leased). Frequent interaction with all levels within the organization.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Job conditions require standing, walking, sitting, twisting, stooping, crouching, kneeling, talking or hearing, making precise hand and finger movements, reaching or grasping. Job conditions may require making visual inspections, lifting and/or carrying up to 50 lbs., pushing and/or pulling up to 50 lbs., climbing up to 75ft, ability to operate and drive all assigned company vehicles at company standard insurance rates, with valid state driver’s license and proof of insurance, working in confined spaces, and perceiving color differences.
