Job summary

Pilot Thomas Logistics is seeking an experienced Maintenance Manager to direct all shop activities, ensuring optimal efficiency and profitability. You will lead maintenance personnel, manage equipment upkeep, and enforce safety standards across the fleet.

Qualifications

  • 5-7 years of maintenance shop experience.

  • Strong working knowledge of industrial engines.

Responsibilities

  • Direct and coordinate maintenance personnel, equipment, and facility operations to maximize efficiency and profits.
  • Oversee preventive maintenance per schedules set by Transportation Department.
  • Ensure safety compliance and conduct weekly safety meetings and audits.
  • Manage shop budget and allocation of hours, shifts, and vacations for all technicians.
  • Coordinate with shop, dispatch, and operations to maintain high maintenance compliance and customer satisfaction.

Job description

Responsible for directing and coordinating all activities of the maintenance personnel, equipment, and facility focusing on obtaining optimum efficiency of operations and maximizing profits.

  • Pay: Competitive salary and paid weekly.

  • Develop, implement and enforce company and department policies.
  • Manage the tracking and completion of all work performed on equipment in the maintenance software program.
  • Responsible for final decisions regarding the hiring, mentoring, scheduling, performance reviews, and discipline of employees in the shop.
  • Manage operational standards of all transportation equipment to ensure it is in good condition and meet safety standards.
  • Manage and ensure that all preventive maintenance is done according to the schedules set forth by the Transportation Department.
  • Manage the coordination between the shop, dispatch and operations to maintain a high level of preventative maintenance compliance and customer satisfaction.
  • Manage the facilitation of appropriate transportation related paperwork and fees with all State and Federal governmental agencies.
  • Ensure truck files are maintained on site and up to date at all times.
  • Manage the safety compliance of the shop and it's team members to include weekly safety meetings are done to ensure compliance with all State and Federal regulations, performing monthly safety walk through and audits.
  • Manage the completion of equipment optimization through the use of the maintenance software which includes downtime reporting, PM compliance, regulatory compliance, licensing, data entry and updates, fleet move reporting, daily status reporting of units, work pending compliance.
  • Manage the efficient organization of daily work of all shop employees including hours, shifts, overtime, vacations, etc.
  • Manage terminals assigned equipment needs to include unit counts, tank wagons, transports, pickups, trailers, etc; manage the equipment by disposing of obsolete or excess equipment and going through appropriate channels to obtain equipment when needed.
  • Manage all warranty items to obtain the highest warranty dollar possible.
  • Manage all aspects of the departmental budget.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • 5-7 years of maintenance shop experience required.
  • 3-5 years of management experience to include budget development.
  • Proven knowledge of P&L management.
  • Strong working knowledge of industrial engines.
  • Basic knowledge of mechanic shop functions.
  • Knowledge of manufacture warranty procedures.
  • Knowledge of inventory management procedures for fleet maintenance.
  • This role does require up to 50% travel throughout the East (Tennessee, West Virginia, Ohio, and Pennsylvania) based on business need.
