Job summary

Management & Training Corporation in Meridian, MS is seeking a skilled maintenance supervisor to oversee facility upkeep, repairs, and preventive maintenance in accordance with ACA standards, MTC policies, and MDOC directives.

You will supervise offenders, coordinate with campus staff, manage work-orders, pest control scheduling, and maintain records; ensure vehicle fleet safety and compliance, with opportunities for advancement.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Five (5) years’ experience in buildings, grounds, and equipment maintenance; three (3) in a supervisory capacity.

Responsibilities

  • Directly supervises maintenance staff and oversees general maintenance tasks.
  • Inspects buildings, grounds, and equipment to ensure repairs and safety.

Job Responsibilities

Reports to the deputy warden of operations. Directly supervises maintenance clerk and maintenance workers. Responsible for duties involving general maintenance and repair of equipment and buildings, and assisting with technical trades such as plumbing, electrical, painting and carpentry in compliance with American Correctional Association (ACA) standards, Management & Training Corporation (MTC), and Mississippi Department of Corrections (MDOC) directives.

Essential Functions
  • Conduct regular inspection of buildings, grounds and equipment to ensure proper repair, facility improvement and preventive maintenance in compliance with program requirements and safety/building codes.
  • Perform maintenance tasks on buildings, grounds and equipment as needed and maintain an effective work order system.
  • Supervise and evaluate offenders assigned to the department.
  • Coordinate with other facility staff and departments to determine maintenance needs.
  • Schedule pest control services.
  • Prepare and maintain appropriate management records such as equipment inventory and building systems descriptions.
  • Develop and ensure adherence to the facility preventive maintenance plans.
  • Maintain all preventative maintenance records, repair records, and prepare reports with pertinent information required for contractual compliance.
  • Maintain facility in accordance with ACA standards and all federal, state, and local safety and health laws.
  • Oversee the vehicle fleet is in safe operational condition and maintenance schedules are followed.
  • Coordinate with the deputy warden for all outsourced repairs.
  • Oversee work performed by outside vendors.
  • Train, supervise and evaluate inmates assigned to the department.
  • Oversee the count of control items assigned to staff including tool carts or tool bags, or other control items

required to be secured before and after use.

  • Ability to perform the physical function of the position which includes but is not limited to; ability to walk properties, climb stairs, climb ladders, use power tools and/or hand tools, lift, squat, bend, sit, stand, or kneel for long periods of time.

It is expected that the incumbent shall perform other duties as assigned within his/her capabilities as determined by management.

Education And Experience Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent, and five (5) years’ experience in buildings, grounds, and equipment maintenance, three (3) of which must be in a supervisory capacity required. A valid driver's license in the state of Mississippi with an acceptable driving record required, unless waived by management.

Post Hire Requirements

Must successfully complete annual in-service training requirements.
