Job summary

TriMas Packaging LLC in Hamilton, IN, seeks a Maintenance Manager to lead maintenance operations, improve equipment uptime, and drive safety and continuous improvement. Main Duties & Responsibilities
Position Summary

The Maintenance Manager is responsible for leading all maintenance operations to support a safe, efficient, and productive manufacturing environment. This role oversees preventive and corrective maintenance programs, equipment reliability, continuous improvement initiatives, and team development while ensuring compliance with safety, quality, and environmental standards. The Maintenance Manager partners closely with Production, Quality, Engineering, and EHS teams to maximize equipment uptime, improve operational performance, and support customer requirements.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Safety & Environmental Compliance
  • Maintain a safe work environment through coaching, training, GEMBA walks, and enforcement of company safety policies and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with all EHS regulations and company requirements.
  • Investigate incidents, implement corrective actions, and promote a proactive safety culture.
  • Participate in and support facility safety initiatives and continuous improvement activities.
Maintenance Operations
  • Lead and oversee all maintenance activities to ensure maximum equipment reliability and uptime.
  • Develop, schedule, and monitor preventive maintenance programs to reduce downtime and improve asset performance.
  • Direct maintenance priorities and resources in response to equipment failures, production demands, and operational requirements.
  • Maintain equipment status boards and visual management systems to communicate performance and priorities.
  • Ensure machinery, tooling, and support equipment are maintained in accordance with manufacturer specifications and company standards.
Continuous Improvement
  • Lead and participate in Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement (CI) initiatives.
  • Drive improvements in equipment uptime, productivity, cycle times, scrap reduction, and overall equipment effectiveness (OEE).
  • Support new equipment installations, automation projects, and new product launches.
  • Identify and implement cost-saving opportunities through maintenance and reliability improvements.
Leadership & Team Development
  • Lead, coach, motivate, and develop maintenance team members in a team-oriented environment.
  • Ensure employees receive appropriate training, orientation, and ongoing development.
  • Conduct performance evaluations, counseling sessions, and development planning.
  • Maintain accurate staffing plans, schedules, attendance records, and labor utilization.
  • Foster employee engagement through effective communication, accountability, and recognition.
Quality Management System Responsibilities
  • Support and maintain compliance with the Quality Management System (QMS).
  • Participate in internal, customer, and third-party audits as required.
  • Report on QMS performance and opportunities for improvement.
  • Promote customer focus throughout the organization and within areas of responsibility.
  • Ensure processes deliver intended outputs and support the effectiveness of the QMS.
  • Ensure the integrity of the QMS is maintained when changes are planned and implemented.
Administrative Responsibilities
  • Complete and maintain required documentation, including performance reviews, accident investigations, training records, corrective actions, and attendance records.
  • Prepare reports and communicate maintenance performance metrics to management.
  • Coordinate maintenance activities with production schedules to support customer delivery requirements.

This position is onsite 5 days at the Hamilton, IN facility

Qualifications
Education
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Industrial Technology, or a related field preferred.
Experience
  • 3-5 years of supervisory or management experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in injection molding and assembly manufacturing preferred.
  • Proven experience leading preventive maintenance and equipment reliability programs.
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement methodologies.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Knowledge of injection molding equipment, and assembly operations.
  • Understanding of preventive and predictive maintenance systems.
  • Strong leadership, coaching, and team‑building skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating procedures, maintenance manuals, and technical documentation.
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and manufacturing software systems.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends, as needed to support production requirements.
