Job summary

AkzoNobel is seeking a Maintenance Manager in High Point, NC to lead plant equipment maintenance, manage a team of technicians and contractors, and drive reliability across preventive and corrective programs. The role emphasizes safety, budget stewardship, and collaboration with external service providers.

Ideal candidate has 3–5 years in industrial maintenance, strong knowledge of pneumatics, electrical systems, PLCs, and SAP-PM, along with leadership and HSE expertise.

Qualifications

  • Engineering degree required, preferred Mechanical, Electrical, Automation or Chemical.
  • Experience in maintenance/engineering in industrial environment (3–5 years).
  • Proficient in MS Office and SAP-PM.
  • Experience with preventive and corrective maintenance planning.
  • Industrial maintenance knowledge: pneumatics, electricity, hydraulics and PLC control.
  • Strong communication, analytical, initiative, and leadership skills.
  • HSE knowledge and experience.
  • Asset integrity management.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures maintenance tasks at the plant are carried out, managing personnel (in-house or outsourced).
  • Implements maintenance processes; schedules work orders, gates client, reports, and closes WOs via SAP PM; develops preventive maintenance and ensures adherence.
  • Meets TRR=0 safety goals and participates in PSM/SAQ/IRS/HSE/BBS/hazard studies.
  • Supervises suppliers/contractors and signs special work permits.
  • Identifies and updates critical equipment following integrity standards.
  • Coordinates investments for predictive, preventive, and corrective maintenance and maintains the budget.
  • Supports contract preparation and maintenance budgets; coordinates external maintenance.
  • Ensures staff training, motivation, and awareness within the org.
  • Adheres to integrity and ethics values; participates in related trainings.
  • Communicates changes to reporting lines, face-to-face or online.

Key Responsibilites
  • Ensures that all the tasks of equipment maintenance at the plant are carried out, managing the personnel in their internal or external position (technicians and outsourcing)
  • Implement maintenance process through:
    • Work order system for scheduling, gatekeeping process with clients, report out and WO closure feeding through SAP PM module feeding KPIs.
    • Develop Preventative Maintenance and guarantee adherence
  • SAFETY Meet TRR=0 Accomplish the activities of PSM/ SAQ / IRS/ HSE/ BBS / Hazard Study. Zero accidents.
  • Supervises suppliers and / or contractors who are performing work related to the maintenance area and is authorized to sign special work permits.
  • Identify and update the list of critical elements and equipment according to the standard of integrity of goods and process safety.
  • Coordinate the realization of the investments related to the predictive, preventive and corrective maintenance of the plant, as well as the determination and fulfillment of the budget of expenses assigned to the maintenance department.
  • Collaborate in the preparation of contracts and maintenance budgets; coordinate external maintenance with service providers.
  • Ensure the training, motivation and awareness of staff within their organizational structure.
  • Know and apply the company's integrity and ethics values, Code of Conduct and Principles against Bribery, participate in related trainings in person or online.
  • Responsible for communicating changes within their report lines. face-to-face or online.
Job Requirements
  • Engineering degree required (preferred Mechanical, Electrical, Automation or Chemical)
  • Maintenance or engineering experience (3-5 years) at Industry Environment
  • Knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, Power Point) and SAP-PM
  • Experience managing preventive and corrective maintenance plans.
  • Industrial maintenance knowledge preferably specialized in pneumatics and electricity, hydraulic and PLC control.
  • Communication skills, Analysis and solution of problems, Initiative and decision making, Leadership
  • HSE knowledge and experience
